Cock Robin, "First Love/Last Rites" /
1989
Review by: Dan Reem
On their last album, Cock Robin definitely sounds more out-of-balance than ever. Kingsberry's delicate mixture of devotion and obsession has taken on a fatalism that suggests he knew the end was near, at least of the group, if not of his relationship with LaCazio. Still, his lyrics once again shine with an honesty and poetry that one almost never encounters in pop music.
LaCazio's reedy voice is less in evidence on this album, which is an improvement, but the memorable moments are a little fewer and farther between.
Best tracks: Stumble and Fall, Worlds Apart
