Cyndi Lauper, "She's So Unusual" /
1983
Review by: Jarret McCaw
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!! And guys too! This album is full of energy and also contains some songs that were wrongly forgotten. Tracks like "Money Changes Everything" and "All through the Night" deserved a much better fate. This record also contains one of THE best pop ballads of the 80's - "Time After Time" - as well as Cyndi's personal ode to female mastubation in "She Bop" (yes she helped write it.) These songs alone make it worth the purchase price, which is a good thing because unfortunately the album does fall off quickly as you flip to side two (sorry - as you hit track 7). Maybe this was a foreshadowing of Cyndi's fall into professional wrestling (with Captain Lou Albano) and into "The Goonies". It should be noted that she did have a mini-comeback with the beautiful ballad "True Colours", a song that deserved much better.
7 out of 10.
