Eurythmics, "Sweet Dreams" / 1983 Review by: Jarret McCaw
This is the moment the Eurythmics got the balance between synths, and Annie's out of this world vocals, perfect. The title track is ubiquitous by now (but still great), but other songs such as "Love is a stranger", "Jennifer" and "I've got an Angel" easily hold their own and they gurgle and bubble through your speakers. Few albums of this period succeeded so well in making the relatively new technology an essential part of the texture of the music. And with Annie's voice on top, it almost never fails the listener. The one exception is their cover of Sam and Dave's "Wrap it Up" which unfortunately does not adapt well to Dave Stewart's treatment.

8 out of 10.
