Janet Jackson, "Control" /
1986
Review by: Peter Ostmann
This album originally put Janet Jackson on the pop-music map, and deservedly so. A thoroughly funky piece of work, it is most famous today for the world hit "Nasty," but also includes her earlier smash, "What Have You Done for Me Lately," "When I Think of You," which became famous for having a video that didn't include a single edit, and the romantic "Let's Wait Awhile." It's a great album reflecting much of the spirit of the mid-80s, but you'll probably be disappointed when you are into Ms. Jackson's more recent releases, which are far more sophisticated (and less fun, I might add).
7.5 out of 10.
