Japan, "Adolescent Sex" / 1978 Review by: Scott Fisher
A great album in a raunchy way Adolescent Sex makes me laugh when I listen to it because it's Glam/Disco/Raunch/Metal. It's a fun album to listen to, but if you're using this album to get an idea what the band Japan sounded like, you're not going to get much of an idea of their later albums. They later sounded like a slightly more atmospheric version of Duran Duran (also with more exotic elements than Duran Duran). David Sylivan (Japan's lead vocalist) also did a lot of solo stuff later which is more Jazz, World and Ambient influenced. In other words, enjoy this album as the Disco raunch that it is, but don't expect this to be a typical Japan/David Sylvian experience.
