Japan, "Tin Drum " / 1982 Review by: Mr. Media
I would call it their best album, but a bunch of bad david sylvian impersonators with round glasses and weirdly cropped blond hair would show up at my door and hang me. This was the full stop for japan where they take their love for Roxy Music, hard rock, and Sylvian's magic with synthesizers to create a sparse and interesting Globalmuzik album. (Hear Karn's work on that fretless bass!) Throw in a violin and a chinese vocalist and get only a hint of what japan could do! So call your record store and take a trip to japan today.
