Shriekback, "Oil and Gold" /
1986
Review by: adam schmidt
The point from which all modern techno music and electronica descends. Shriekback was an awesome band which combined the rage of Gang of Four with XTC's smoothness. The result is a haunting piece of music that melds prodigy's rage with moby's diversity. The band didn't outlast this album and broke up three years later, but fortunately they left us one of the most astral albums around.
