Top Ten Lists of Eighties Movies

The concept is pretty easily, pick your ten favorite movies from the eighties. The hard part? I want JUST movies from the eighties, not movies you might have seen during the eighties. Also, try and avoid movies that came out after the eighties if possible, 1990 is pretty borderline, I won't scream too loudly if you add one that is from then...

  • 10. Can't Buy Me Love
Patrick Dempsey played the ultimate 80s goob as well as Anthony Michael Hall. If there's a 10b, it's Sixteen Candles -- mostly because of AMH. And who can forget about 10c -- Pretty in Pink with Jon Cryer's Ducky?
  • 9. Batman
No matter who plays the Caped Crusader -- Val Kilmer or George Clooney -- you still come back to Michael Keaton: "I'm Batman."
  • 8. Bull Durham
Yep, they knocked the ball outta the park with this movie. It captures so much of what goes on within a baseball team -- especially the conversations on the mound between Crash and Nuke.
  • 7. Field of Dreams
They built it -- and I went. The trip to Dyersville, Iowa, to see this baseball field is worth the effort.
  • 6. Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Sloane Peterson ... need anyone eloborate? And who knew that Cameron Frye would grow up to work in the New York mayor's office? ;)
  • 5. Fast Times at Ridgemont High
    Aloha, Mr. Hand.
  • 4. Say Anything
Many guys can look in the mirror and see Lloyd Dobler. "I gave her my heart and she gave me a pen." ... So true.
  • 3. The Breakfast Club
We've all been there, we all have our own take -- and that makes this a must-have for an 80s film library.
  • 2. St. Elmo's Fire
Kirby Keger falling for the older woman ... classic. Kevin Dolenz with a casket in his apartment ... OK, weird. Jules Jacoby epitomized the must-have-it-NOW attitude of the 80s.
  • 1. About Last Night ...
It just doesn't get any better. The irony is that Jim Belushi and Elizabeth Perkins (non-BPers) had the best lines! Bernie: "I tell you I'm a thief and you call me a liar."
The 80s are most memorable for the Brat Pack movies. Yep, Stars Wars drifted over, Back to the Future launched as well as the Indy Jones franchise. But we all remember -- and come back to -- the Pack ...
