This is a great song from the only album by this band (So Red the Rose), which consisted of the remnants of one of the best bands of the 80's. Hint: The original band has since regrouped. Do you know who it is? I highly recommend this album
I'm leaving out so many..Level 42, air supply, Asia, Bullet boys, christopher cross, cinderella, cool and the gang, Coverdale-Paige, CS&N, the cult, dan fogelberg, dead or alive, eddie money, elton john, europe, extreme, fine young cannibals, the fixx, foreigner, peter gabriel, genesis, the honeydrippers, the hooters, hewy lewis and the news, human league, j geils band, jackson browne, judas priest, little river band, etc...i can keep going but there isn't enough room here...i love music

This is an AMAZING song - and I think the story behind it is brilliant as well - Ian Curtis' longing for love from his partner while still having an affair with a dutch woman. recorded 2 months before his sucide and released a month after.
- 5. Letters from America by The Proclaimers
this came 4th in the charts in christmas 1987, kep out of the top three by Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones' version of Rockin around the xmas tree and the wonderful Fairytale of New York. This is the Proclaimers best song, but not there most well known.
- 4. Whole Of The Moon by Waterboys
a true classic of the 80's, one of the most underrated songs of that decade, I think the emotion just soars on every note!
- 3. Caravan Of Love by The Housemartins
The Housemartins were arguably the Best band of the 80's. Featuring Fatboy Slim on Bass, this OUTSTANDING accapella was christmas number 1 in 1986, and was the in my opinion the Best Christmas number one of that decade.
- 2. Don't Dream its Over by Crowded House
Beautiful track - Neil Finn is a songwriting genius and I really think this is the best Record never the reach the top 10 Ever made.
- 1. Fairytale of New York by The Pogues
This is THE greatest christmas song ever made - if not the greatest SONG ever made! forget band aid, this is one of those few songs that has stood the test of time. Shane MacGowan and Jem Finer should both be VERY proud! somehow kept off the top by The Pet Shop Boys for the Christmas Number one...... I think thats a travesty!
I have a very different taste in 80's music to alot of people, so I hpe this has provided as few surprises!

One of the best ballads of the 80's.
- 1. Who Can It Be Now? by Men At Work
I used to see Men at Work at the Cricketers Arms before they were famous. This was they're best song.
