Top Ten Lists of Eighties Movies
The concept is pretty easily, pick your ten favorite movies from the eighties. The hard part? I want JUST movies from the eighties, not movies you might have seen during the eighties. Also, try and avoid movies that came out after the eighties if possible, 1990 is pretty borderline, I won't scream too loudly if you add one that is from then...

I'm not sure if I really like any of these movies better than the other. Oh there's one more if I could add to my top ten - even though it would make it eleven - The Lost Boys!
By: Erin
Okay, so I'm only 16 and didn't see any of these when they first came out. Still, I think a lot of my friends would agree that the 80's was one of the best decades for movies yet. They all seem so much better than most of the new ones being put out now.

Sometimes exactly how I felt about High School. Unfortunately I couldn't ever pull of ferris's day off.

Tear Jerker. Cried when I first saw it in the theater in 1982.

How can you only choose two?!?!
By: Marc Palmer
- 10. Blade Runner
Another trendsetting film in the sci-fi genre. Dark, atmospheric, and serious. Great effects. Offers interesting questions and insights to the impending reality of artificial intelligence and its inherent tragedies. This film will make you think.
- 9. Transformers The Movie
I don't think this movie received the nod of respect it should have from animation enthusiasts, even to this day. This movie outdoes any comparable Disney film of the time in effects, animation quality, and sound. There's no special computer effects in this film. Instead, the animators put painstaking detail into nearly every frame. The motion is smooth, the colors are rich, the detail is mindblowing, and the music is fantastic. Unfortunately, I think the "Go-bots" movie (which beat TFTM to the movie thearters) put a stale taste in the mouths of those who were open-minded enough to see this genre of movie. I think many put TFTM in the same catagory, which was totally wrong. Try to see TFTM if you can. You'll be impressed (if you like animation).
- 8. Predator
Again, another movie that should have been left alone. Truly the ultimate "boogeyman" movie. Great action, imagination and special effects. Worth seeing! The sequel with Danny Glover was ok, but the original rocks!
- 7. Highlander (1)
The first movie, in my humble opinion, should have been the only movie by this name. Unfortunately, Hollywood could not keep from bastardizing this title. The other two sequels were horribly directed, poorly written, and succeeded in destroying the mystery behind the original concept. If you've not yet seen Highlander (the FIRST one), go and see it! Great fantasy! Pretend the others don't exist.
- 6. Conan
Think what you want, but his is one of my favorite movies of all time. No movie today is done like this anymore. No digital effects, virtual monsters, or boring dialogue, just flesh, steel, fire, snow, and a classic revenge motive! What gods do you pray to?
- 5. Terminator
A legendary sci-fi twist on the old time travel concept. Wonderful story and imagination.
- 4. Alien 2
James Cameron's touch in this movie is obvious. Stunning visual effects and suspense to the best sci-fi/horror movie ever made!
- 3. Alien
This movie horrified moviegoers back in the eighties with its introduction of the "chestbursting" alien baby. Fantastic sci-fi/horror. A tense, clever, trendsetting movie.
- 2. Dune
Frank Herbert's book translated to film. David Lynch's dark and otherworldly directing make it stand out from everything ever seen in sci-fi movie history. Though it's complex and drifts from the book (what movie doesn't?), it's a must see in my opinion.
- 1. Legend
Fantasy at its best...back then and even now. Incredible imagination, visual effects, and music. This movie has strong replay value. Nothing like it today!
By: Sean
- 10. One Crazy Summer
A good movie involving John Cusak and Demi Moore befoe they were household names.
- 9. Summer School
Pretty much Mark Harmon's one and only good movie
- 8. Caddyshack
The best Bill Murray movie to date.
- 7. Hoosiers
The best basketball and maybe sports movie ever made.

Can't go thru the 80's without listing a Cory Feldman movie.

Michael Douglas & Kathleen Turner had perfect chemistry. Excellent.
- 8. top gun
Tom Cruise & the whole gang playing volleyball. Need I say more?
- 7. footloose
We can still dance to this music!
- 6. lost boys
This had so much '80s proganda in it, its not even funny. Very awesome and you can still watch it like its the first time.
- 5. neverending story
Falcor kicks butt. Everyone who lived & grew up in the '80s loved this one.
- 4. legend
Tom Cruise had everyone when he made this movie. Ridley Scott did a good thing when he made this.
- 3. princess bride
"Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!"
- 2. real genius
Val Kilmer had it perfectly. He's someone I think everyone would love to hang out with! This movie is so awesome it still rocks after 15 years.
- 1. breakfast club
Sorry, but this is it. Anyone who argues will be fired.
I could name thousands of others, but these stuck out in my mind the most. Even though it has been 10 years, the eighties are still the best years of movie making & creative thinking that we have had a good long time.
