Top Ten Lists of Eighties Movies

The concept is pretty easily, pick your ten favorite movies from the eighties. The hard part? I want JUST movies from the eighties, not movies you might have seen during the eighties. Also, try and avoid movies that came out after the eighties if possible, 1990 is pretty borderline, I won't scream too loudly if you add one that is from then...

  • 10. Ghostbusters
    "Who you gonna call?" This was a great paranormal,fun family movie. Sequel was also excellent.
  • 9. Top Gun
    Tom Cruise at his best. "Maverick" is the man! Kelly McGillis looks great too...wonder whatever happened to her?
  • 8. Rocky 3
    I'm a huge "Rocky" fan and I thought this sequel almost lived up to the original. The whole "Eye of the Tiger" thing was great.
  • 7. Raiders of the Lost Ark
    Spielberg, Lucas, and Harrison Ford in the ultimate adventure epic. Sequels were almost as good. Can't wait for part 4.
  • 6. Gremlins
    I still want a "Gizmo" for myself!!
  • 5. The Karate Kid
    Another great coming of age movie. John G. Avildsen is a tremendous director. Part 2 and 3 were also very good.
  • 4. Stand By Me
    Great coming of age movie. Rob Reiner did a brilliant job.

    Spielberg,Zemeckis,Fox,Lloyd and a Time Traveling Delorean...need I say more!? Part 2 and 3 also very good.

    Ultimate adventure flick. I'm 19 and I still want to be a Goonie.
These are my top ten, but there are some excellent honorable mentions. Beverly Hills Cop 1 & 2, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Terminator, Aliens, Dirty Dancing, ET, Poltergeist, Batman, Cocktail, Die Hard, Predator, Bloodsport, Kickboxer, Over the Top, Stakeout, and Lethal Weapon.
