Top Ten Lists of Eighties Movies
The concept is pretty easily, pick your ten favorite movies from the eighties. The hard part? I want JUST movies from the eighties, not movies you might have seen during the eighties. Also, try and avoid movies that came out after the eighties if possible, 1990 is pretty borderline, I won't scream too loudly if you add one that is from then...

By: Mike Terres
- 10. E.T.
E.T. scared me when I was about 3 years old, and now I think he is totally cool. Everyone left this off their list. Gimme some Reese's pieces! Now!!
- 9. Weekend at Bernie's
OK, this movie is really cheesy and low budget, but tell me that you didn't laugh your ass off. The sequel is even funnier.
- 8. The Terminator
Anyone who disrespects Arnold should be forced to wrestle him WWF style. This movie is great and he is the best action actor ever. Great storyline.
- 7. Rocky 4
This movie makes you proud to be an American. Very dramatic, and the soundtrack kicks!
- 6. Breakfast Club
It is amazing how a movie over two hours long that spans only one day in these kids lives can stay intriguing all the way thru. A true classic.
- 5. Children of the Corn
Very wicked movie. The kids in this movie are a hundred times scarrier than any cheesy new millenium computer enhanced shitty "scary" movie.
- 4. Better off Dead
John Cusak's best 80's movie. You just can't get enough enough of those teen angst movies.
- 3. Stand by Me
Another one of those I remember when.... movies. Keifer Sutherland is a great bully. Great acting all the way around. Even the fat tagalong kid.
- 2. Ferris Bueller's Day off
All of us had one of those days growing up that you will never forget as long as you live, great reminiscing after this movie.
- 1. Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Everybody can associate someone they knew growing up with the charachters in this movie. This is a cult classic. Sean Penn is hilarious!
The 80's ruled. And I wish I could time warp, because life on earth is too fast paced now. We were amuzed by the stupidest things back then and now, everything is so technical. Stop conforming and be yourselves!
By: Jesse
- 10. Porky's
This is the movie that best desribes the 50's. It doesn't show any of that cornball shit like American Graffiti. It actually tells the truth. Drugs still weren't popular then but oh was sex ever popular. Not sayin that it isn't today ,but all I'm saying is that they didn't have drugs to focus on so much. Just mainly sex!
- 9. Ferris Bueller's Day Off
What makes this movie great is how the stunt that Ferris pulls was actually possible in the 80's. I also love how Cameron is worried that Ferris is going to get caught, but actually Cameron is the one that was caught. Now can I say more!
- 8. Sixteen Candles
Molly Ringwald should be very thankful of this movie. This movie started out her amazing movie career. I love it just because of how Samantha and The Geek would never actually end up with the people they did in real life. I mean I personally don't enjoy movies like that but hey this one is different. This one has LONG DUCK DONG!
- 7. Back To The Future Part 2
I like this movie just because of one thing and one thing alone, the year 2015!
- 6. Colors
This movie is defined by the performances of Sean Penn and Robert Duvall. Sean Penn is one of my all time favorite 80's actors. Colors really takes you inside the gang problem. It shows all problems, gang troubles, division between cops, drug addiction, and of course the biggest problem of all MURDER! I know not many people really symbolize this as an 80's movie. You have to realize this though, even though gang's are a huge problem nowadays. Well these problems did start out in the 80's and spread through the country in the 80's. Think about that.
- 5. E.T.
This is a very touching film. I mean I actually tear up everytime I watch this movie. I just can't explain why this does this to me time after time.
- 4. A Nightmare On Elm Street
This movie defines what a true horror movie villain shoudl represent. The villains I'm talking about is not the Freddy of 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 it is the true Freddy. The sadistic, sick, and twisted Freddy Krueger. I mean this Freddy scares the shit out of me. How would you like to meet this guy in dark alley. NOT ME! This is probably the only real Nightmar other than #7 that has a real plot in it. A true plot that makes you actually think about it when your not watching the movie. Not many people realize how this movie was originally thought of. The movie came from a few incidents where kids actually were getting killed in there sleep brutally. I know to some people the whole Freddy Krueger thing is just really stupid. Think about it though you are never able to control your dreams!
- 3. Platoon
This is the most gripping war movie of all time, Hands Down! I mean this movie actually came from the perspective of someone who was there. Not from someone that was told bits and pieces of Vietnam. Oliver Stone gives us the gripping truths and realities of Vietnam. Whether you like to believe it or not the things in this film really did happen. Whenever I see this film though it is still hard to realize what really did happen in the far east?
- 2. Fast Times At Ridgemont High
This is honestly the funniest movie of the 80's. I mean can you think of one character in the 80's that makes you laugh more than Spicolli? I know I can't?
- 1. The Breakfast Club
This movie symbolizez in just 1 hour and 30 minutes what 80's high school America was all about. Bender is a character that represented all potheads from 1985 to now. He actually demonstrated how the potheads get the stereotyping. I know every other group of people get stereotyped in high shcool. But hey tell me the truth, Do any other group but the potheads get stereotyped as bad? Also I can honestly say that I will never get bored of watching this movie!

All right maybe deep down I'm a helpless romantic, but this movie had the action and comedy to keep the plot going.
