Top Ten Lists of Eighties Movies

The concept is pretty easily, pick your ten favorite movies from the eighties. The hard part? I want JUST movies from the eighties, not movies you might have seen during the eighties. Also, try and avoid movies that came out after the eighties if possible, 1990 is pretty borderline, I won't scream too loudly if you add one that is from then...

    1984-"WOLVERINES!!!!!!!" This is a first film to recieve a PG-13 rating. "Red Dawn" is a must-see for any movie or Patrick Swayze fans. Not for kids because of profanity and a lot violence.

    A great swashbuckling adventure in the tradition of old time serials. Fun and excitement.
  • 9. Risky Business - 1983
    Fine dialog, perfect casting, Rebecca de Morney's sexy call girl agains Tom Cruises' teen-age guy caught in a comidic, impossible web. Great satire.
  • 8. Ferris Bueller's Day Off - 1986
    Matthew Broderick makes this "enjoy life every day" tale from John Hughes a total delight. A real joy.
  • 7. Sophie's Choice - 1982
    The horrors of WWII told through Meryl Streeps' Sophie. A heartbreaker that gets you and does not let go. Great accents too.
  • 6. A Fish Called Wanda - 1988
    One of the funniest movies of the 80's. Terrific dialog and a great cast with Kevin Kline at his comedic best.
  • 5. Charriots Of Fire - 1981
    A large statement from a simple premise, running. Great photography.
  • 4. Blood Simple - 1985
    The Coen brothers' first film, a stylish, bloody webof a Film Noir with Frances McDormand and a great M. Emmet Walsh.
  • 3. Who Framed Roger Rabbit - 1988
    Something special happens every so often at the movies. Something that you've never seen before, done to total perfection. Great story too.
  • 2. Born On The 4th Of July - 1989
    Tom Cruise acting for real. Oliver Stone's apology to Vietnam, done right. A great film to end the 80's.
  • 1. Raging Bull - 1980
    Martin Scorsese get the decade of in great fashion. Robert de Niro at his best. A forceful study of a tragic prizefighter. And Joe Pesci too.
