Top Ten Lists of Eighties Movies

The concept is pretty easily, pick your ten favorite movies from the eighties. The hard part? I want JUST movies from the eighties, not movies you might have seen during the eighties. Also, try and avoid movies that came out after the eighties if possible, 1990 is pretty borderline, I won't scream too loudly if you add one that is from then...

  • 10. Coming to America (1988)
    It is hilarious and I absoultely love Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall in this movie. They play so many characters and it is gold.
  • 9. Glory (1989)
    This is when you first noticed Denzel and Matthew Broderick showed that he was a serious actor and not just a comedian. This movie is a moving story of slaves during the civil war and their strong desire to be free. It is sad and moving.
  • 8. An Officer and A Gentlemen (1982)
    Starring Richard Gere and Debra Winger. Who does not want a man to sweep you in his arms and carry you out of anyplace.
  • 7. Working Girl (1988)
    A Classic in my eyes. It stars Harrison Ford and Melanie Griffith and if you have not guessed it is another romance.
  • 6. Some Kind Of Wonderful (1987)
    This movie stars Eric Stoltz (who is Julia Roberts brother), Lea Thompson and Mary Stuart Masterson. It is a cute love story also directed by John Hughes. As you can see I am a sucker for love stories.
  • 5. Dirty Dancing (1984)
    How can this not be on the list. It is a cult classsic and that is all I have to say.
  • 4. Pretty in Pink (1986)
    Molly Ringwald in a John Hughes film. Those two made the eighties rock all by themselves. Gotta love Ducky!
  • 3. The Color Purple (1985)
    This is a great movie that I can recite all the lines too. Oprah has only had movie success with this film. It was directed by Hollywood legend Steven Speilberg.
  • 2. Mystic Pizza (1988)
    It is Julia Roberts first breakthrog=ugh role and it is funny and sweet. I am a huge Julia Roberts fan. Enough said.
  • 1. Say Anything (1989)
    This is the best romantic comedies of the 80's. Starring John Cusack and Ione Sky. It gets me everytime that I watch it. It is simple and beautiful.

    Tim burton shows what an amazin and creative director he is and talented actors Jack nicholson,Micheal Keaton, and Kim Bassinger.
  • 9. Some Kind Of Wonderful
    its a chick flick but a cute one.
  • 8. Back to the Future
    Micheal J. Fox a great actor as he travels to the past to help his parents and just to have fun. Great movie a movie that you could watch over and over again.
  • 7. Better Off Dead
    John Cusack was big in the 80's and this movie proves why. Its funny just see how many ways Blaine will do anything to try and kill himself for a girl. full of laughter and will have you laughing until its over.
  • 6. Heathers
    Two teens on a killing rampage sounds interesting it is with Winona Ryder and Christian Slater trying to kill off the clique, Heathers.
  • 5. Sixteen Candles
    A wonderful movie by 80's director, John Hughs. THis timeless classic with Bratpackers, Molly Ringwald, and anthony micheal Hall. Need i say more. Kids from years to come will be watching this classic from years to come.
  • 4. Can't Buy Me Love
    A wonderful teen classic of the 80's tells a story of Ronald Miller who wants to be cool and basically rents a girl for a month. Check it out its a great movie and made girls go crazy for Patrick Dempsey including myself.
  • 3. Platoon
    One of the greatest war movies ever made and even won for best picure definetly a movie that should be in the collection.
  • 2. Top Gun
    Tom cruise need i say more. There scenes wit him playing volleyball with his shirt off. Hottttt! Great movie filled with action, great music , and oh yeah and Tom Cruise.

    This Is One Of My Favorite Films About A Kid Who Just Wants To Grow Up Fast And Its A Fun Comedy With Tom Hanks.
