Top Ten Lists of Eighties Movies

The concept is pretty easily, pick your ten favorite movies from the eighties. The hard part? I want JUST movies from the eighties, not movies you might have seen during the eighties. Also, try and avoid movies that came out after the eighties if possible, 1990 is pretty borderline, I won't scream too loudly if you add one that is from then...

    Overall one of my all time favorates; a goofy, feel good comedy.
  • 2. Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back(1980)
    Far and away one of the best musical scores in a movie.

    This is a well-acted movie, and is a tearjerker toward the end.

    This was a hilarious movie about 2 sets of twins that were switched at birth.
  • 6. Pretty in Pink
    I still consider this Molly Ringwald's best movie. It's great!

    This is the first movie that I saw Tom Cruise in. He is at his best in Top Gun.

    This hilarious movie has 6 great actresses in it, icluding a then unknown Julia Roberts.

    Chevy Chase is hiarious as Clark Griswold!
  • 2. Ghostbusters
    Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, and Harold Ramis are hilarious together! Ghostbusters II wasn't nearly as good.

    This movie is hilarious! Matthew Broderick does such a great job in it, he seems to be typecast as Ferris!

    A Funny story about five young teens...In detention realizing it really does not matter if your popular,geek,Jock,Rebel or just plain weird;that if you are a fun person to be around and you like hang or talking to them then they are your friend.

    A great western movie that is funny but yet sad at the same time. If you like the first one check out the second one.
  • 2. The Outsiders
    The outsiders is a great movie telling how hard it was for these young boys to grow up as a greaser.
  • 1. Stand By Me
    The Best movie ever made.Its a sad,Funny,Loving movie it moves the hearts of everyone.
I love the 80's a lot and im only the age of 14 but i know the 80's have some of the best movies ever!!!!

    Another masterpeice from Martin Scorsese, a profound film (and controversial) about the last day's of Christ's life.
  • 8. Sid And Nancy (1986)
    Brilliant performance's from Oldman and Chloe Webb, show's the downfall of rock star Sid Vicious and the effect of drug's and addiction.
  • 7. Full Metal Jacket (1987)
    A harrowing, tragic film from Kubrick. Explain's the physical and mental toll of war.
  • 6. Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (1988)
    One of those homerun's that are hit every once in a blue moon. A rare animated film because it's mostly adult's who enjoy the film as opposed to children.
  • 5. Ran (1985)
    Akira Kurosawa's last great film. Very simular to Kurosawa's masterpeice, Seven Samurai.
  • 4. Shoah (1985)
    An extrodinary (and long) documentary film that consist's of interview's with survivor's of the Holocost.
  • 3. Do The Right Thing (1989)
    The best film about rascial tension. Spike Lee's best joint to date.
  • 2. Once Upon A Time In America (1984)
    Sergio Leone's finest film. Span's five decade's of a man's life and is torn between his life as a criminal and his friendship's.
  • 1. Raging Bull (1980)
    One of the best films ever made, a film that show's a man's anger, frustration and brute force which send's him into a downword spiral. A masterpeice.

    It was this crazy movie I liked as a kid about this girl that finds out she was part of a cloning experiment. I don't know how it stands the test of time, but back then, it was like, "Ooooo, freaky!"

    I love it that so many people know this one. I thought it never got its due back in the day among the teen movies. If you haven't seen it, you should check it out.

    What a movie! I've lost count how many times I've seen it. It will never get old. It carries a great message (by a great cast) that post-college is one of the hardest times to be faced in one's life.
