- 2. Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N' Roses
Sonic dynamite. Best hard rock song of the past 20 years.
- 1. Into the Groove by Madonna
80s Madonna songs were like Pringles--you couldn't stop at one. The greatest pop phenom of the past 20 years delivered classic after classic, but Into the Groove is a standout. It's funky, rhythmic groove totally delivers on its title. Madonna's attitute virtually seeps from the vocals. I dare you to stay off the dance floor for this gem that still sounds remarkably fresh after 20 years.
My list is mostly pop/dance/R&B, and I have excluded many great cuts from such great acts as U2, Tina Turner, Journey, Def Leppard, George Michael, Anita Baker and more.
