These videos are all compilations of various artists, music video collections of a single artist are not wanted for this particular list. Videos that contain music videos from after the eighties will generally not be included (unless there's only one or two early 90's songs on it). The eighties after all introduced us to the music video, and they're a lot of fun to watch because some videos are pretty bad.
Title: The Best of MTV 120 Minutes Label: Rhino Home Video TTime: 30:00 Apprx. Notes: None Paid : $5 Rank : 4 out of 5. These were the staples of the late night music show on MTv which over the past few years has gained a little more exposure since alternative music has made more of an impact in the past few years. There's a CD compilation to go with this, which is supposed to pretty good as well.
Title: New Wave Hits of the 80's, Vol. 1 Label: Rhino Home Video TTime: 35:00 Apprx. Notes: None Paid : $15 Rank : 4 out of 5. Track Listing -=-=-=-=-=-=- Title Artist(s) -=-=- -=-=-=-=- Cars Gary Numan Girls On Film Duran Duran I Want Candy Bow Wow Wow Love Plus One Haircut 100 Twilight Zone Golden Earing She Blinded Me With Science Thomas Dolby Come On Eileen Dexy's Midnight Runners Poison Arrow ABC I Eat Cannibals Total Coelo Life In A Northern Town Dream Academy Commments: Pretty fun tape, a lot of real memorable videos, though the version of "Come On Eileen" was one that I hadn't seen before (concert video, somewhat dull really). Definately a tape worth pulling from the bargin bins (this is normally a $15 video, it was just released). The songs arranged on here are better ordered than most of their eighties compilations are. It should also be noted that this video contains the uncensored Duran Duran video "Girls on Film" which is better than the Mtv butchered edition most people would be familar with (directed by Godley and Creme, who would later go onto be one hit wonders themselves).
Title: New Wave Hits of the 80's, Vol. 2 Label: Rhino Home Video TTime: 35:00 Apprx. Notes: None Paid : $15 Rank : 3 out of 5. Track Listing -=-=-=-=-=-=- Title Artist(s) -=-=- -=-=-=-=- Pop Muzik M I Ran (So Far Away) Flock Of Seagulls Mickey Toni Basil Lies Thompson Twins Stand By Roman Holliday Puttin' On The Ritz Taco True Spandau Ballet In A Big Country Big Country One Thing Leads To Another The Fixx The Metro Berlin Commments: Not as good as the last video in this series, this tape tends to have more of the cheezy videos from the early eighties more than anything. I could definately have done without the "enhanced" edition of "Mickey" which has some weird effect done with the normally white background which makes you think you're watching the video in some blurred fashion. "Lies" by the Thompson Twins was a nice addition to the tape though, as it wasn't played a lot on Mtv and it's definately more cheezy than most of thier other videos.
