"Don't You (Forget About Me)", Favorite Songs from Movies, Songs Beginning with P
Movies in the eighties had some of the best soundtracks, and the most
memorable and popular songs at the time seem to have sometimes outshone the
movies themselves. As I get time I'll add more songs to this list, feel free
to send me your additions to the list. If you want, try and list which scene
during the movie the song appears during. Oh, and the whole "Valley Girl"
soundtrack get's an honorable mention since
it's packed full of great eighties songs. I also rank and review other
eighties soundtracks on my
Soundtracks of the
Eighties Page in case you are interested.

Tremendous power ballad by Alias! Freddy Curci & company who scored with "More Than Words Can Say" and "Waiting For Love" among others This is an awesome rarity found only on this release until Freddy redid it for a hard to find solo CD.The powerful bass & drums, killer guitar and soaring vocals will flat fire you up! To this day it remains an all time favorite! Could listen to it a million times(Almost have LOL!) and never get tired of it! Recommend anything by these guys and recommend this soundtrack as one of the best!

Pet Semetary
"Please Answer Me" by
Broken Edge used in the movie

This is the song at the Halloween dance when Danny and Ali are dancing in the 'shower'. The actual band broken edge is playing at the dance.
"Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want " by
Dream Academy (Instrumental Version) used in the movie
Ferris Buhler's Day Off (Museum Antics Scene)
The listing above incorrectly attributes the Smith's original version of this song with Ferris Buhler's D.O. It's the Dream Academy's insrumental version that was on the soundtrack and still makes me a little misty when I hear it.
"Poor Rich Boy" by
Ambrosia used in the movie
Arthur
Used in the movie, but not with the lyrics. Still though, this song screams out 80s!
"Positively Lost You" by
Rave- Ups used in the movie
Pretty In Pink
At the club where Andy and Ducky hang out a band is playing. However ,the song never made it to the soundtrack.
"Power of the Night" by
Mann used in the movie
Critters (1986)
Terrence Mann played an alien Ug who comes on Earth and impersonates a rock star Johnny Steele who sings Power of the Night. I loved the song but I never managed to find it. If anyone has it (I don't think it was ever released) please send it to tqfw@tqfw.com

Very, very cheesy softrock, but SOOO eighties ;-)
"The Promise" by
When in Rome used in the movie

I recently saw this and it just feels so 80s especially with the soundtrack. It also had Cyndi Lauper and Alphaville songs.
"Pump Up The Volume" by
M/A/R/R/S used in the movie
Bright Lights, Big City
I really miss this song. It starts out, "Come on, all you home-boys, this one's for you...Pump up the volume, pump up the volume, pump up the volume, yes--yes..." I used to have a full copy of it on cassette tape, but since have misplaced it.

"Purple Rain" by

Classic early 80s electro-rock from Giogio Moroder with great lyrics that is just dying for a harder rock cover version

Montage song when Rocky is showboating and Clubber Lang is training hard.
