Description
Sex: Both
Type of clothing: Jeans
When it was popular: 1988-1991
Description: Jeans and or khakis: Pull the bottom of pant leg out until you can't pull anymore. Fold over the material to the outside of your leg so it fits around your ankle tightly. Cuff it once. Cuff it again. Your jeans are french-rolled. Don't make it too tight though or the rolls will ride up your leg and you'll look like a dork. DO NOT wear socks with your khakis and loafers if you're a guy! The french roll must be on the outside of the leg so that the crease from the roll faces in opposite directions....that's how we did it.

LOL- I am really laughing out loud!!! My husband and I have talked about this style before. I THINK it was more popular in the midwest. Man was that a hot way to wear clothes... blah! I would just throw up if my kids started doing that! lol

Here in Midwest you were not cool unless you rolled your jeans, and clean rolls meant you were even cooler. Because your creases were as perfect as you could get. I showed my son this one day and then I got the comment that I was a dork....LOL

wow! i used to do this too. but we called it tight-rolling your pants. i would wear stonewashed jeans(tight-rolled) with lace-trim socks and black patent dress shoes that had bows on them!

We called it tight rolling at my school. Girls would tight roll their pants and wear 2 pairs of slouch socks sometimes. When I would try on new pants at the store, I would make sure I could tight roll them nicely or I wouldn't buy them. jeez! I also have a dorky 36 year old cousin that still does that.

We called it Pegging our jeans. I am 35 too adn i just remember doing it in high school.. that wouldve been 1987-1991. The main difference is that we would do the seam on the inside of the leg so it wouldnt show..If you didnt peg your jeans, you wore your socks over your jeans.. to tell you the truth i dont know why someone didnt come out with "skinny jeans" back then like we have now.. it wouldve made it easier to get our socks over our pants.

Ha! We called it pegging too. I used to have a pair of black Levi's that were red on the inside, so when you rolled em' the roll was red! I was such a dork! Course, I also owned a pair of "hammer pants"......:)

I've always been on the tall side with long legs so I HATED the French rolling fad. My jeans were way too short once I had "pegged" or "French rolled" them! At my school everyone just called it pegging instead of French rolling. But it's the same fad. I was so glad when the 90's hit and no one did this anymore!

I am a fashion journalism student and am doing a trend report on rolled up pants. I would be really grateful if someone who is following this trend can fill in my survey for research. It would only take 5 minutes of your time. My email id is aarthi.baliga9@gmail.com

That is the only way we wore out jeans in Northern Michigan in the 1980's!

We called it tight rolled too. You had to roll your jeans and be able to wear at least 3 pairs socks with them and your socks had to be the different on each leg...red, pink and blue on one and theblue, pink, red on the other.

I live on the east coast...back in the day, you were a total loser if you didn't wear acid wash jeans with the cuffs rolled! Lol! Here, everyone called it *pinch pleated* and *stone washed*. I agree with the other comment...someone should have done skinny jeans in the 80s!!!! I HHHAHAAAATED pinch pleating AND the way it looked! But you had to in school or your friends thought you weren't cool lol.

Are you interested in buying coin operated horses or spring rocking horses??? They are sold on Ebay. Most spring horses are made by Blazon, Wonder, Flexible Flyer, and Radio Flyer. Feel free to buy as many as you like. Good luck!!! :) Ebay account required.

Lol, we had that in Detroit too. The French rolled jeans with $120 Nike "Air" Jordans, with patented air pockets or you WEREN'T cool, LMAO. Girls, you had those tall bangs that looked like a tidal wave- aim blow dryer at bangs&hairspray simultaneously, right?

Operation, Rubiks-cube, etch-a-sketch, simon, & "you sunk my battleship!" Remember that commercial: the kid with the mullet would show up and his girl would hold his "jean-jacket" while he played that weird game? Everyone circled around, After he won, she put his jean jacket on him like he was some kind of urban godfather? Crossfire! Thats it! Ugh, almost as bad as "members only" jackets, LOL.
