When I was in 2nd and 3rd grade I totally worshipped Cyndi Lauper and wanted an asymmetrical haircut so bad. On Halloween (2 yrs in a row) I dresses like her and pulled my long hair over to one side to pretend it was one of these haircuts! haha

I had a cut that was short on the left, and wound around to long on the right. It took a long time for it to grow out. These cuts took a lot of work to keep them looking good. bsi--LOL!!

Popular early to mid-80s asymmetric hairstyles I remember: Back shaven off, front left long enough to cover at least half the face. Just one side shaven off and the rest of the hair brushed entirely to the other side. Angled bobs, but 1960s-style very high and precise in back and lengthening to two points at about the chin in front. The asymmetric sweep of hair over one eye was so popular, for both men and women, that it became kind of cliche to see people on the dance floor, dancing by themselves, of course (that was another 80s trend), constantly reaching up to move the hair a bit out of their face with a gesture that was intended to be noticed.

Some of those hairdos looked like they were chopped with a knife!

Asymmetrical hairstyles are coming back into fashion, though not quite like they were in the 80s. I now have a long asym. style where my hair is 1 foot shorter on the left, and goes to longer on the right. My hair is 4 1/2 feet long at its longest.

Omg... I wanted my hair like that soooo bad after 1st seeing Salt & Peppa's "Push It" video (1987 or 1988?). They had the best asymmetrical hairstyle ever! Hand's down! This look is also once again retro... many, many women are rocking this look in 2013. Not me though :( I could never get away with it because of work. I actually didn't get my hair cut into this style until like 1991 as I think back so I was 14 by then.
