This is true that people did wear thier hair this way in eighties and this information helped my group with our decade museim. We had a lot of fun trying to do this!!

Yepp Im 13 and like everyone at my school wears crimped and backcombed. I had no idea it came from the 80's though.

No one at my school has there hair anything liek that. i don't know what i would do if i saw someone that had there hair like that.

I had the crimper were you could insert different plates, and put in a start pattern, and I think there may have been a heart, I crimped my hair alot. But, I had a lot of hair and it took forever.

I remember when i first got my crimper because my hair was hard to curl I thought I should spray it with aquanet then crimped it. It stuck straight up because I held it straight over my head I looked like I had stuck my finger in a light socket!lol

i remember when i got a crimping iron finally. i woke up super early to crimp my hair for school and thought i was just AWESOME!!! i see some kids do it now...still looks okay to me, though i dont think ill ever rock the crimped look again.

Still got my hot-pink crimper from the 80s, and it still works too. Has 3 sets of changeable plates, to go from crimped to wavy to straight. I always loved the crimped look. And it added nice volume to otherwise flat and thin hair.

I still remember opening my crimper for Christmas when I was a kid. It was one of the best presents I ever had. I think I had it until I was about 21 and totally rocked it in high school in the late late 90's. Of course a way mellow version compared to my 80's version. I actually just bought another crimper today!!!! I'm way excited!!!

I got my first crimper in 87 and I was 8 years old. I still have it and crimp my hair for generation day every year for out homecoming at the High school where I work. I rock crimped hair, cause it is as long as ever!

Still have a crimping iron--I use it on my mini horse now instead of me.His mane looks cool crimped, and he won his class with his mane3 crimped.

Where I lived, "crimped" hair was big among teenage girls in 1978 but they wouldn't always do it with a crimper. More often, they'd braid their hair tight while wet and then sleep on it, unbraiding it in the morning for a look that was meant to be both punk and disco.

yup i wore my hair crimped or teased ..my crimper had attachments like heart, zig zag and lightnening bolt. My 13 year old is planning an 80s 14th bday party so iam trying to find one like mine to give her ..no luck tho..hahah loved the 80s

I had super long straight hair, then along came the crimping iron!! It took forever to do but I loved the look. The only problem was, it fryed my hair and my ends got really split. I'm sure the can of Aqua Net had alot to do with it too.

I wanted a hair crimping iron when I was an elementary school girl, My mom told me ironing is bad for your hair, so I changed my mind. I still thought hair crimping and other hair styles like cornrows were THE BOMB, though. ;-D
