Umbros were the only acceptable shorts to wear at cheerleading practice. Otherwise you were a goob.

Where I lived, Umbro was biggest in the early 90s.

I recall Umbros being all the rage from about 1988-1991 in my area. They were really popular in 1990-1991 especially among junior high and high school girls. By 1993-1994 and after, they were a lot longer and sort of a different style, and only worn at my school by boys or girls who actually played soccer.

Umbro was cool in 1991 in southern NJ. I wore em to field hockey practice during JR High. A yr later everyone wore Champion mesh shorts from 92-96. As I graduated HS in 97 it seemed Nike shorts were popular in athletics and board shorts for style by many who never even surfed. Now I see Under Armour everywhere.
