I saw a pair of Palmetto jeans in the Goodwill today. They had an upside-down triangle patch on the bum like the old Guess? jeans did.

Holy crap! I loved Palmetto jeans. I wore them proudly & faithfully in the 80s!

What ever happened to good fitting jeans like the Palmetto's? I have to say that they sure showed off female curves like mad!!! The Pockets were higher up on the butt cheak like all jeans should be. What the heck ever started the pockets so far down making the new jeans look like they need "pulled up". I'm not saying to bring back the 70's "CAMEL TOE" look, but low, tight bad fitting jeans w/ your bellies hanging over the waste does NOT COMPARE to the older jeans that were a little baggier and showed off the boody, pockets up, and waist at waist line! Girls, take this advice, try it one night and if you don't get all the guys taking notice to your pants, your bod, maybe I'm wrong, but somehow, I so doubt that!

Right at this moment I have a pair of size 5 Palmetto's jeans sitting in front of me. I cannot believe I was ever that tiny! I had no hips! Even so, I still had to lay on the bed and zip them up with a wire coat hanger. Remember doing that? These jeans are the typical acid washed, tight fit all the way to the ankle with zippers in the back at the ankle with the triangle logo on the back pocket. I've kept these in my closet hoping to one day fit back into them (and as a memory). But after two kids and a woman's body, No way! My butt used to look Really Good in them way back in 1988! I even think this pair is from closer to 1986. I used to wear mine with a bandanna tied around my upper thigh and sky-high Candies!

I luv my Palmettos! pulled them out the other day all patched and raggedy, and after all these years of gaining weight losing weight they still fit like a glove. Need my old "dead shirt" Bring back Palmettos with the same sizing.. tight at the ankle and perfect in the butt!

While I realize no one has commented in some time, I worked for the corporate office of Palmetto Pants back in the day. I was wondering if they were still in existence, and google led me here. It was a fun place to work. The people were great and there was always free food, since the showrooms were there, and buyers often came to check out the clothing. We also got an extra week's paid vacation in June when the factory in GA was closed and a decent bonus at Christmas. While I was the officer manager's assistant and did things like payroll, I can tell you that a lot us were recruited to help with design. Before distressed was ever a thing, I'd be given a Brillo pad and a piece of denim, and told, "see what you can do with that," or given a garment and asked to sketch it "but a little bit differently" to make a knock-off. We also got a lot of free clothes. I remember going to the VP's office, looking through a rack of sweaters, and whining, "this one is so cute..." and the VP saying, "just take it and get out of my office." If you were the sample size (then, and 8, if you can believe it), you had it made. I probably still have a few Palmettos floating around in those boxes of old clothes I just can't seem to part with, and I definitely still have that sweater. It's nice to hear that others still remember them fondly.
