I think you might mean "pinned" jeans... I can remember we all use to pin the ankles of our already quite narrow legged jeans even tighter!!!

I remember pegged jeans in the late 80's, maybe even into 1990. You tightly folded over the pant cuff and rolled it up so that it stayed tight at the ankle. It effectively cut off circulation to your feet if you were really cool.

dianne - Nope "pegged" would have been the correct term. A.K. describes it well. And my god skinny jeans are hideous. Seriously, I think most of us that are old enough to remember the 80's (I barely am) can agree that it was not a high point in fashion. I can't believe it's back.

I'm glad they're back!, in fact they should be the standard again, today theres different types, I hate the super tight skinny jeans that some guys wear.

"Pegged" was the term used at the time, first heard in the late 70s. I never knew whether it referred to something about the narrowness of the ankle or to the full-ish waist and hips. The ones that were super-tight from waist to ankle weren't called pegged, only the ones that were full, often pleated at the waist and hips and then narrowed to the ankle. What's called "skinny jeans" in the 2000s bears little resemblance to late 70s/early 80s pegged pants.

they were mid-late 80's. Had a stoned washed pair with a bow and a zipper on the back of my calf. LOVED them!
