Went through gallons of this stuff in junior/high school! My bangs were blonde and the back was brown. My dark-haired friend used it on her hair and ended up looking like Ronald McDonald!

Ha! My boyfriend used to make me spray this on sections of his hair all the time. He wanted to bleach in more "natural" looking streaks. He was OBSESSED with looking like a surfer. The funny thing is, we lived in Northern California at least three hours from the nearest beach and the boy had never surfed a day in his life. My mom had the sense to tell me I couldn't use Sun In... she didn't want me to fry my hair. Thanks, Mom!!!

I still see it in drugstores and supermarkets.

Still around, but is not good for your hair. It makes hair very brittle and easy to break. Also can cause scalp irritation.

I still see it and I think some people still use it!

EVERYBODY used this stuff in the 80s! so many of my friends hair never came out the way they thought it should and they would always complain, but the thing was...sun-in is meant for blondes and people with light brown hair, not black and dark brown hair! everybody wanted those sunkissed blonde streaks, but this stuff was just not meant for us dark-haired girls.

I wasn't permitted to use it, thank God, but my cousin used it during a beach vacation on her freshly permed brown hair. It turned bright orange.

I still use this today & it's sold everywhere. Made my natural blond just a bit lighter. People were always shocked when I told them what I used because it never worked for them. Always worked well for me.

Works best on hair that's already blonde. Not good for dark hair at all. Never used the stuff, but had blonde haired friends who did.
