My grandma used to drink this and I loved it! It's like drinking foamy chocolate air. It is called Alba Fit n' Frosty now and it is sold with the diet foods in supermarkets. Bring your checkbook, it costs an arm and a leg, but well worth it for a tall, cold glass of 1982...

I used to love drinking the vanilla version. I would mix it with milk and ice. As a kid, I didn't care about diets. But this shake was totally good.

I used Alba Fit n' Frosty in 1979 to lose 45 pounds in less than 3 months. I would make a double (140 total calories)for lunch, eat what would pass as a sufficient meal to my parents at suppertime, then have a single serving of Alba if I was peckish before bed. It was so tasty and did not seem to taste "diet" when everything else did. I have been trying to find it at the grocery store, but to no avail. I did see it on the Alba site and it is still expensive, though more so than in 1979 (what isn't?). I am going to purchase it, if I can find nutritional information showing carb and protein counts. Money wise, it is worth the help it gives when trying to watch intake - and it tastes great!

I loved Alba, wish I knew where to buy it.

If you can't find the "new" Alba, I think I've managed to approximate it. I was looking for a recipe similar to a Wendy's Frosty, but it wound up closet to what I remember Alba was like: 2 tablespoons sugar free pudding mix 2/3 cup powdered milk 2/3 cup water Blend in a blender on low speed to mix Add 7-8 ice cubes Blend until smooth Drink

I loved this growing up, if I needed to loose a few pounds as a teenager I would drink Alba. You can still find it at Winn Dixie in Florida. And compared to other diet drinks this isn't so bad.

Back in 1983 I was really into excercising and watching my weight & used to love to have these vanilla & chocolate shakes, every day in fact. They tasted good & no guilt.

My mom used to buy these all the time. I don't think she ever caught on that I was the one eating them. We never had junk food in our house so the closest I could get was Alba 77. I think I finally got sick of them and just stopped, but for a few months I was like a crack addict out of control.

Back in the mid eighties when I was lifting weights regularly I used this product daily. I lost 56 lbs in under three months. It tasted great and was filling. I believe it was sold by Heinz at the time but went off market, too bad. Now that I'm older I wish it wasn't so costly, I could afford to lose a few pounds. Thanks for the recipe Andy it sounds good, I'll try it>

I used ALBA 77 and also ALBA 66 back in the late 70's, they really did fill a person up and helped one to lose weight. I wish the grocery stores still carried them.

I LOVED the Alba 77 (and 66). It wasn't as convenient as the Borden's shakes but the taste of Alba was enough to make me want to mix it myself (rather than just shake the can, open it and drink everything in one or two gulps:)

I just found this site. I remember Alba77 when I was doing Weight Watchers back in the 80s. Since I can't find it in my local grocery stores I searched for it online. It in now packaged as just Alba Shakes. It is available on Amazon from different sellers. The best price is offered by Netrition.com without having to by it by the case. They offer Vanilla, Milk Chocolate and Double Fudge. I get quite a few goodies on that site. I make so many different flavored shakes with these. Don't limit yourself.

I just bought 5 boxes from netrition.com - under $5 per box & worth every cent. I use an immersion hand blender & blend the shake mix with a 12oz can of Canfield's CHocolate soda - it makes a giant chocolate egg-cream type of drink that is extremely filling & worth every Weight Watchers 2 Power Points.

AN OLD WEIGHT WATCHER RECIPE. ONE PKG OF ALBA, PUT IN A CUP, ADD JUST ENOUGH WATER TO FOR A PASTE, NOT TOO THICK BUT NOT TOO WATERY. ADD ONE LEVEL TBL SPOON PEANUT BUTTER TO MIXTURE. BLEND VERY WELL. TAKE A PIECE OF AX PAPER, MAKE A FREE FORM WITH THE MIXTURE,FOLD OVER THE WAX PAPER.MAKE A FLAT PATTY. REFRIGERAE FOR A FEW HRS OR UNTIL HARDENED. ENJOY! TATES JUST LIKE A REESES PEANUT BUTTER CUP.

I will be ordering the new product soon from Amazon. Just started back on WW and remember the best snack was taking dry Alba 77 and mixing with drained crushed pineapple. Dropped on wax paper and frozen was the best treat. That was before points so I will need to figure that out.

Oh my gosh...I lived on this stuff in college. Would make a shake just about every day (back when it cost about $2 a box). It was so filling and would keep me from snacking while I was studying. Just bought some on Amazon and can't wait to take a walk down memory lane when I taste it! I wonder why it's no longer widely available??

I am looking for a old Weight Watchers recipe for corn muffins using 2 packs of vanilla Alba, crushed pineapple, corn meal, baking powder or baking soda( don't know which) butter substitute & 1 pack of sugar substitute. Everything went into a blender & poured in a muffin tin. Don't know any of the measurements. This was my breakfast. My leader was Debbie Hochrad in Queens NY in 1985.

Does anyone remember the recipe for a weight watchers pudding using alba, knox gelatin and ice mixed in a blender? I made this in the 80's whe nI was on WW.

I used to blend Alba 77 milk chocolate as directed, but added a scoop of cottage cheese. Like drinking chocolate mousse! Wish I could find it again.

I grew up on this stuff. Hard to believe it's gone. Looked everywhere, but no one has it any longer, including Netrition, Amazon, and Walmart. So disappointing because they were so filling and great for weight loss too. I wish they would bring it back!

I found out late last year (2017) that the manufacturer has discontinued this. I was so sad - I think I had been drinking it since the 80s!

This is still available at netrition.com for under $5 a box, 8 packets. I've got my pineapple fudge in the freezer right now! And may try adding some PB2 to try to recreate the Reese's pnb cups someone me tioned, above. One packet is 2 points on the current weight watcher system!

Alba Dry Milk and Snack Shakes has been discontinued! Without enough orders from stores, due to competition from Slim Fast mixes, Hain Celestial decided to drop the products, and changed Alba brand into Alba Botanicals for vegetarian toiletry products. Gonna have to use the pudding mix and dry milk recipe from now on...

SO upset about discontinuation of Alba!! I would have bought cases if I'd known I'd never be able to get it again. :( No other shake mix comes close to comparing in fluffiness and taste!

I just used up my very last packet of Chocolate from the last box from the last case I bought online several years ago. It was my go-to delicious fast lunch and made much more delicious and healthy with some wheat germ, hemp seeds, peanut butter, and a banana thrown into the blender, along with the water and ice cubes. I hope the online substitute recipes come close. I'll have to experiment.
