Description
A pizza that was in the shape of a rectangle and had a pretty thin and chewy crust. Instead of putting it in a regular pizza box, they would have a paper covering with a "Big Foot creature-guy." Wish they still made it or that there would be a "Big Foot revival." I think a lot of people would go for it. May have been early 90's, though.

I know it was around circa 90-91 because we had it at my friend's birthday party in 6th grade, which was 90-91. I'm not sure if it was actually around in the late 80s or not, but it might as well have been. I mean, 90-91 might as well have been the 80s, based on the fashion trends, etc.

I remember that I has one of these for my birthday party when I was turning 10 and the dye from the bag bled through to the pizza. The cheese was Tie Dyed with red and brown. It looked gross but still tasted awesome. Ahhh, Memories.

The "Bigfoot" pizza from Pizza Hut was marketed in 1993. There's an old TV commercial for it posted on YouTube and it's mentioned in the Wikipedia article on Pizza Hut. Personally, I didn't think it was all that great. I was a huge fan of the Neapolitan pizza they pushed for a few months before the Bigfoot was introduced but strangely, no-one seems to remember that one at all.

Yep, Bigfoot Pizza was early 90s. But it was awesome nonetheless. I remember playing arcade games while waiting for our Bigfoot Pizza to be ready.

When my husband and I were working our minimum wage jobs we would order one for $9.99 and eat at it for 3 days.

We used to get this pizza all the time when I was a kid in the 90s.

I hope pizza hut will bring this back someday, maybe if everyone, calls, emails, and start a petition. It would also be great if it was still the same price as it was in the 90s :)

I just miss late 80's, early 90's Pizza Hut in general. It seems impossible to find a sit down Pizza Hut these days. I remember going to Pizza Hut and having the wait staff bring out a pitcher of your choice of soda. Then you would pour it into those dark, red, bumpy drink glasses. They would bring your pizza out sizzling in a black, deep dish. They also had a jukebox with Salt-N-Pepa, Heart, T'Pau and Starship (with the song "Sara"). I was only 9 in 92', but I would kill to go back. Anyone still have their Land Before Time hand puppet?

The bigfoot pizza and TGIF on the abc network, ahh friday's at night. Throw in some crystal pepsi, and greasy nintendo controllers, (and pulling me of the street fighter 2 arcade machine),and I'll call it a 90's night. The bigfoot pizza was an icon of my childhood.

I remember the Neapolitan pizza it was fantastic. I also liked the Bigfoot, but nothing can touch the neapolitan from the early 90's. Good call on the 90's night friday night as a kid.

I was a college student in 1993 when the Bigfoot Pizza was released. I split one with some friends and remembered how many of us it took to finish it off!

Not bad for a gimik pizza, but nothing like the real New Jersey or New York City pizzas! That's pizza. By the way, Dutch Mill made the best donuts!

I don't know why you folks included this product in the 80's. This is from the early to mid 90's. To me it's kind of a penis joke. Domino's had the "Dominator" which was nearly 10x30. I work for Domino's and had to deliver that stupid thing. Nationally for some reason, we were not suppose to deliver the Dominator. They needed a special bag. Our franchise owner decided to make them. The taste of the Dominator was nothing special. It was actually overpriced for it's size if you did the math. I suppose the Bigfoot had the same problem.

Does any one remember that in general Pizza Hut Pizzas wer bett back then because they put some kind of spice or herb on their pizzasz/ zi think it may have been fennel seeds...but it made the pizza stand out from all the rest...very good and you knew it was pizza hut pizza because you come catch the fait smell of the fennel before you ate it and then there was that distictive taste....they don't use it anymore, sadly.

I worked as a cook at Pizza Hut at the time it was still out. '92 or '93 sounds right because I wasn't outta high school yet. Nasty pizza. We could never get the crust to cook evenly. If you wanted it crispy, you got it burnt. LOL

If only they could bring back neapolitan style pizza. Back in the early 90's, I used to order the neapolitan with pepperoni with extra cheese and boy I was in heaven

I remember ordering the Bigfoot at the Pizza Hut at 72nd and Pacific in Tacoma. It's gone now but they had the red bumpy glasses like someone mentioned and a sit-down Pac-Man table arcade game. I still have a Pizza Hut Guaranteed Value Card, expired 9/19/93 (says on the back its not valid on the Bigfoot). I'd totally post a pic here but there's no way to. One of the deals on it is 2 large pizzas for 15.99.. can't beat that! It would also discount $2 off a medium pizza or $3 off any large. Next time I get the delivery guy here I'm gonna try it and see his reaction as he was probably still in grade school when it expired :P

It looks like the Big Foot has finally been brought back. It has been repackaged however as the "Big Flavors Dippers Pizza" and is listed as almost 2 foot of pizza.

Definitely a 90's thing. I thought it was late 90's, but someone else here mentioned it came out in 93. I believe they brought them out to compete with Little Caeser's "pan pan" deals that were big at the time, where you always got 2 pizzas for a decent price. the Bigfoot was different than the other Pizza Hut pizzas, and I thought it was pretty good. Weird how not only has the Bigfoot been gone for years, but also Little Caeser's don't even do the double pizza deals anymore, which I think was their main gimmick and why their slogan was "Pizza Pizza!"

I worked in every PH position, including Management (although 1987-1989 delivery was the best w/only ONE Domino's outlet as competition in a 15 sq. mile area, with expanding upper middle-class neighborhoods intermixed with some upper-upper class! We were out the door with 3-5 addresses every time; largest were 16", med 14" (had to count and place 75 pepperoni slices on a large, and sprinkle with "fairy dust"...all dough was from scratch every day, not frozen like now (day cook's job was HARD WORK, hand-slicing vegetables, etc.NOTHING pre made...why it was so much better...). Each delivery outlet had two standard Isuzu trucks that you could use instead of your car for deliveries! And, for the first two years, you'd STILL get a .50/address "commission" (using your own car was .75). Blatantly unfair and caused fights...eventually, they ended all commission on the trucks, then phased them out. ANYWAY, the BIGFOOT was a 90s product, and about the most irritating, full-of-hassles product that PH ever sold (except maybe the terrible "Triple Decker". Bigfoot was all about competing w/Little Caesar's, who were growing like mad at that time (would end up being TOO fast). But, PH didn't NEED to compete with LC! There was no comparison between the quality of product. But, PH sent us these long pans and new ingredient pans/cups, etc. Making the dough was a pain, stretching it was infuriating, and then having one interrupt your busy busy Fri 745 pm cutting/boxing flow was the WORST, as they went on a cardboard slab and then into a BARELY-TALL-ENOUGH bag. The flashbacks are terrible! Then,if you had to DELIVER one (or four), you had to mess with these wireframe 5-ft long structural delivery pods while you ALSO carried your regular bags. Worst part? You KNEW it was either tiny tip or ZERO tip as it's most likely kids ordering, or cheap adults. Before complaints: driving delivery ages your car like nothing else. It took these pizza conglomerates TWENTY YEARS to print something about tipping on their menus/boxes. And now that gas is so high and they're charging a "delivery fee", ppl aren't tipping. NONE of that fee goes to any driver. Now they've finally started to remind cx of this, too. Sorry for the extended story/rant, but one more thing about the Bigfoot. It ACTUALLY used WHOLE-MILK Mozzarella cheese instead of that part-skim "triple-cheese blend" monstrosity (CHEDDAR & MONTEREY JACK ONA PIZZA?!). Whole-milk mozzarella is expensive. It was the only thing I liked about the BIGFOOT - I could make my employee small thin (over-proofed is the best!) with whole-milk mozzarella! Hope somebody got some laughs or memories?

There's a new Pizza Hut commercial that celebrates their 60th anniversary. It has flashbacks of things Pizza Hut used to have from the Bigfoot to the Book-it reading program to the old red hut buildings...check it out!

Enjoyed your post Jean. I also worked at PH for a few years before college, during the early 90s. We didn't have a delivery service at that time, but I remember the hassles well in regards to dealing with the Bigfoot pizza. Running the cut table was challenging on a Friday without these nightmares! I remember, every weekend night, we'd have a line of people waiting to be seated, all of them staring, fascinated by the speed and precision at which our cut table person processed the constant back to back, jam packed flow of the double decked, belt driven Blodgett ovens. All you heard was CHOMP, CHOMP, CHOMP....CHOMP, CHOMP, CHOMP, CHOMP as pizzas were expertly cleaved by a large half moon blade. When I was on the "make table", we always tried to bury the cut person and make them panic. Anyway, like a few others stated, the Neapolitan was a far superior pizza. I remember the special perforated pans used put a perfect crisp on the crust and left a dimpled texture. The sauce used on the Neo's was sweet and unique. It came in large only and was cut into 8 pieces as opposed to the large pan crust, which was cut into 12. Times have changed and I consider PH pizza to be garbage compared to the fresh products made back then. Cheers.
