I had this candy once. In my kindergarten class a kid brought in huge bags for everyone on valentines day. I dont remember what his dad did but he was able to get it for us special. I loved the candy. I have been looking to see if it was still made but I couldnt remember the name until seeing this.

I remember..... Yeah everyday after 2nd grade i would hit up the ice cream man and get 4 bags for a dollar. I hope to eat them again. It was too good not to be lost with the 80s. Cali in the house!!!

I remember riding my bike when I was 10 in 1988 to a Cumberland Farms store near my house in South Jersey on a cool fall afternoon. At the store I bought chalk candy in a small red bag w/a blk. board on the front. They had a sweet cherry flav. inside with a white chalky outside. I only found them that 1 day and never again :(

I totally remember that candy! My mom would let me get it at the general store in the mid 80s. I have always asked friends if they remember and they think I'm crazy! So happy to find others that share that memory of that great candy with me!

I once asked a friend, "Dare me to eat a piece of that chalk?" I confidently went to the classroom chalk tray, ate the pre-placed Chewy Chalk, and laughed inside as she watched in horror. Good times, good times...

The last time I had chewy chalk was in the late 80's. I've searched and searched all over the internet to no avail =( Why do companies discontinue good products? Like Johnny Apple Seed and Alexander the Grape.... stupid stupid heads...lol

I can not believe that I have finally found other people that remember Chewy chalk!!! I loved it soooo much it was my favorite and every time I would ask someone if they too remembered it they always said no! How wierd. I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one who had ever eaten any of it! Wish they would make it again! It was great!!

My Husband and I LOVE this candy! We used to buy it in the mid to late 80's! We have searched for this everywhere! There must be a candy company that can make this today. Too many people love it so please someone out there please bring it back!!

I LOVED Chewy Chalk! It was my favorite candy then, and still is, even though I haven't had it in over 20 years. I accidentally ate a piece of real chalk once, thinking it *could be* chewy chalk. I would pay a lot of money to eat it again. I even tried calling Leaf, Inc. to obtain the recipe from them after they discontinued the candy, but they refused to give it to me. i love reading all these stories about chewy chalk! when i was a lil girl a old guy that lived beside my house sold little flea mrkt style items and his delivery guy brought him some chewy chalk in his items one day and i loved that candy. i use to try to explain the candy to my husband to see if he had ever tried it, i was so surprised when i found it on here. i would love to have just one bag of it. plz plz plz plz bring it bk

I've been looking for this candy for awhile. I was in fourth grade and my teacher wrote on the chalkboard and popped it in his mouth. Some of the kids were selling it. It was the best candy ever.

I use to but this candy from a vending machine when I was in elementary school. we were able to buy from the vending machine after lunch. I love this candy so much. I'm 38 and I still think about this candy. I've looked for it for many years only to find out the don't make them anymore. Does anyway know what company made them? We need to see if the can make them again. Maybe even for a limited time.

Around 1986 going from Ohio to Chicago for a big comic book show, four of us in the car, eating chewy chalk and drinking jolt cola all the way there. far as i know neither exist anymore.

I used to deliver newspapers and would stop in the store and use some of the newspaper money that I collected for Chewy Chalk. Wish they would bring it back. Such a good chewy, cherry flavor!

omg. I was beginning to think I made that memory up. I knew I tried chewy chalk as a kid once. This girl brought it school. Said her dad worked for a company that made it. It was good! Never saw her again and never found chewy chalk again and no one I knew had any idea what I was talking about. Now look. A whole world of people that knows. Reading these comments makes me feel so validated! For years, I have been trying to convince my husband from the south that this candy did exist. After reading this board, clearly it was a regional thing. Riding my bike down to Folgers Variety in central IL to get this candy is one of my favorite childhood memories. If only life could still be so simple. If we can’t enjoy the candy now, at least we can enjoy reading the stories of the joy that it brought…

I remember "cherry chalk". My folks did not often get us candy but for a short time for some reason I was blessed with this wonderful candy that was at Ograns grocery store. Growing up in Iowa in the mid 80s! Great candy!
