I'm pretty sure this came out in early 1993. My mother worked for a catering service and brought some home before it was in the stores here, we all thought made us cool.

I remember that I once seen it at store when I was 5.

Crystal Pepsi was a caffeine-free soft drink that was made by PepsiCo from 1992 to 1993 in the United States, Canada, and for a short time in Australia. In Europe, Crystal Pepsi was sold for a somewhat longer time. Starting with test markets in April 1992, PepsiCo found that the new soda received a positive response. Pleased with the results, the company began to sell it nationwide in 1993. A large marketing campaign was launched along with it, for which the company invented the world's first photo-realistic, computer-generated bus wrap printing. The best-known part of the campaign was the series of television advertisements that used Van Halen's hit song "Right Now," which premiered on nationwide television during Super Bowl XXVII on January 31, 1993. Initial sales were good, but they quickly fell, making the product fail to generate a profit adequate to warrant continued marketing, since many consumers did not like the taste of it while others thought it was too similar to regular Pepsi to merit sale as a separate product. Pepsi pulled the drink off the market, but returned several months later with a reformulated citrus drink and retitled "Crystal by Pepsi", but this was short lived as well.

I remember this well. The 2 liter though. I remember it did taste like the regular, but sort of not as strong.

Hahahaha! I remember this stuff! OMG! It was 1992, I was 12, my brother jsut turned 15. He wanted to get some for his birthday, it came out that summer here. We bought a lot of Pop Rocks to add to it for flavor. I know I didn't like it, but he did as he was the Pepsi fan in our house. My othre bro and I were Dr Peppers. Parents had their Schlitz and tea.

I never really cared for pepsi, but I did love Crystal Clear Pepsi, to me it taste different from original Pepsi.. It would be cool if they brought it back, and get off the the Mt. Dew kick, that ship had done sailed!

Yeah, I loved it, but I was pretty young. Don't drink too much soda anymore....It seems like it was earlier than 92-93, but I don't know..

This stuff wasn't bad, but it didn't really have any discernable taste. I mean, grape soda tastes like grape and orange soda tastes like orange. But what did Crystal Pepsi taste like? Think about it.

I loved this stuff too, and if they bring it back I'll buy it in a heartbeat. Much less sugary than regular Pepsi.

I thought this was before 1993...man I am old. I used to drink this (Regular or Diet) when I lived in So Cali (in my EARLY 20's)and you could buy it in glass bottles.....Crystal Pepsi and Salsa thin doritos were my diet for at least a year. I wish they would bring this back.

Yes it came out in '92 or '93, I thought it tasted great at first but then it started to remind me of Alka Seltzer! And yes not as sweet as regular Pepsi.

I wasnt much of a soda drinker, but I loved this soda. It didnt give my teeth a coated feeling like regular Pepsi did. My local store still carried some leftover sodas even when the Crystal Pepsi was pulled from the market. I still bought them and I didnt get sick or die from month old sodas. LOL I, too would drink them if they came back on the market.

i want to try it so so so bad my mom and her friend said that they loved it and they drank it all the time! whats the number to pepsi so i can ask them to start it up again.

I am craving it so much!!! I just heard the song RIGHT NOW by Van Halen, that was in commercials for it and it made me want it so bad!!! PEPSI please bring the Crystal Pepsi back, at least for a holiday season or some sort of anniversary or something!! !!!!!!!! PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

I loved the taste of Crystal Pepsi, but it wasn't a strong taste like Pepsi. I wish they did brought it back because it was my favorite soda around the 90's.

I used to fill up water bottles with Crystal Pepsi and bring it to school. Only way to get soda in elementary school!

I was in 5th grade when this came out. Really cool concept, but it was confusing, like I was drinking a pepsi, but it looked like a sprite.

I still remember the commercial! I don't remember the taste because it was so long ago. I do however, remember that I loved it and would drink it like crazy!

My friend bought 2 6-packs of cans off of eBay back in 2007, and he shared them with me and his other friends. IT WAS... EPIC. They need to bring it back.

Loooooooooooooooved this stuff! I liked it a lot more than the regular colas because it didn't seem as sugary sweet.

My dad was in the military, and so whenever one of us kids got even the smallest cold we would get taken to the local navel hospital. They had (for about a year) a vending mechine that dispensed HOT french fries or Crystal pepsi into a crappy styrafoam cup. It was one of the only good things about being stuck there for hours (unless we were dying, since we wernt active duty service members we were always seen last our 8 am apoinment usualy ment we left there around 4pm) because Mom would always let us get some, she almost never bought soda or fast food. I wish they still made it, I hate regular pepsi.

My Dr. told me that I could only have clear drinks like sprite after I had my tonsils out in 1992. so, my mom bought this. It was soooooo good.

I remember this stuff. I thought the whole point of it was to taste like regular Pepsi but to appeal to parents who didn't want their kids to have all the extra dyes and colors. I remember an urban legend about the stuff that they were sneaking cocaine into the product. Ahhh the things kids will come up with.

My husband was talking about this the other day. He says he wishes they would make Crystal Clear Pepsi, again. He got all excited when I metioned it the other day because he thought maybe they were making it, again. Personally, I thought it was kinda gross but, I remember my brother drinking them alot. When this came out, there was a fad for clear products. The taste was bland to me; almost like rock candy. I didn't like it at all.

definetly 92-93... i only know this becuase 7th grade in middle school, i drank more of this stuff than water... we even found a way to tap the vending machine button, so it would kick out 2 sodas/$0.50... quality product... they need to bring back all the 80s-90s snacks... what's up with nintendo cereal? tato skins potato chips?

I remember the day this came out and a guy from Pepsi came to my middle school and put it in the vending machines. There was a huge line after school of kids waiting to get one. I got mine and opened it and took a huge swig...I thought it was disgusting! LOL! Guess I'm the only one!

This stuff wasn't great, but wasn't bad either. And you could slop it all over yourself and not stain your clothes.

I remember the first Clear or Crystal Pepsi I tasted... instant loveeeeee, and then they took that loveeeeee away. I wish they would bring it back all these crystal pepsi knock offs are really making me crave the original even more.

I thought it tasted like cinammon. Normally I love cinammon; however, in bubbly liquid form it was disgusting. I am a Pepsi drinker through and through, but Crystal Pepsi was not for me.

I remember Crystal Pepsi in 1987-88 so I believe Wikipedia is wrong. My husband remembers the same and he's a few years old than I am. I know for a fact I have a memory of it being brought into a 4th grade class party.

I was a teen when it came out. In which I do remember MOVING in 1988 in which it was already been made and in stores. Not sure about the CRYSTAL part. But they had coupons for Pepsi Clear Cola in Hinky Dinky in which was closed by 1993 or 94. It was one of these years it was selling 1984,'85,86, or '87. So I know you are 210% incorrect.

I remember a clear Pepsi from the late 80s. I would buy it in South Carolina while I was in the Navy. I left SC in 88'.

I had it when it first came out, but I didn't care too much for it. It looked like 7Up but it tasted more like regular Pepsi. I'm not much of a Pepsi fan per se.

BTW, the description at the top of the page is wrong. Crystal Pepsi didn't come out until 1993.

It's back!!!! And it's just as good as I remember. Wish you could buy it in two litters though.

Parts of the country may have got it in the 90s. But I know for fact around 1983 they distributed in my neighborhood 6 to 8 Oz glass bottles with a styrofoam label in a bag on people's door knobs to their home as a promotion. I don't recall if it was for sale during that time and I believe it was Crystal Pepsi not Pepsi clear. I'm not proud of it but I was 14 years old and a buddy and I went door-to-door taking them. We had 30 to 40 bottles each.
