I loved it as a kid. I didn't see it for a very long time and never really thought of it for many years. I tried it like a year ago when I suddenly came across it out of the blue. Now I hate it, too bad.

I use to drink this Juice in the late Eighties and early 90's. It was readily available at most markets here in California, but now i can't find it anywhere. I actually used it as part of a diet, and lost "A LOT" of weight drinking it, and had a lot of Energy. I think all teh Citrus in it helped my metablism to burn fat. I miss it, and wish they still sold it out here in California..

My mom use to buy this for us all the time in the 80's. She bought the concentrated stuff from the freezer section. It was better than Tang.

As soon as I submitted my last comment, I realized I was thinking of Hi-C. I don't even know if they make Hi-C at all anymore, let alone in those giant cans. I guess you could say I'm a fan of giant cans. *clears throat*

Ugh, there was a red kind of this, and that was all our mother would let us drink for like two years. "It's healthy!" No pop, no koolaid, nothing. I can still taste it, and if I never see that stuff again it'll be too soon.
Merry - September 12, 2009 - Report this comment
Bought some last week at a SuperWalmart in IL. Not nearly as good as I'd remembered it.Only a $1.55 a can though.

When we were kids (1984), we wanted to be as big/strong as those in WWF. For some reason we thought it was 5-Alive that made them what they were.

i grew up in canada in the late 80s and when i moved to the states i couldnt find it anywhere.. i just found it today in the frozen juice aisle (socal) i hope its as good frozen as the can!

I used to make an awesome punch with Five Alive, Champagne and tea. I think after fresher tasting orange juice became available in the refrigerator section, fewer and fewer people bought frozen juice and the demand for 5 Alive died out. It is/was a great product.

I am still searching for Five Alive! They recently stopped selling it in my city. You can make an AWESOME party drink with Five Alive frozen concentrate, cool whip, ice, and vodka. It tastes like a dreamciscle!

i called the free hotline # on the can and she told me where to buy it, i use to drive an hour to buy a case of 24 cans, now i pay the pepsi man to bring a case with him so i save fuel $$$, then i give him a few cans for the help, sure wish walmart would clone 5alive and sell a proxy product. this is a case where the ''dumb company''wont promote and advertise a great tasting juice ! many of the canned juices today are all water and like only 10% juice, all the sugar water will rot your teeth bigtime. ------Todd ohio univ

Man, I haven't drank that since like 1982! They sell Five Alive in the 64oz carton at the Giant Eagle here in Marietta, OH. I think Minute Maid originally came up with it. Coca-Cola is now the parent company of Minute Maid. You might want to contact Coke's HQ in Atlanta for Five Alive availability in your area. Maybe they can help.

Five Alive is the best. here in canada they had a pomegranite flavour as well. Delish with Malibu, blue curaco & fresca!! Or vodka, rum, gin...whatever...

This was the best drink (juice) of all time..I was able to snag this stuff in NJ until about a year and a half ago..

Five Alive is still sold as a frozen concentrate in most of the north eastern states. I travel regularly in MI, OH, PA all the stores have it. I now live in California and they don't sell it anywhere. For those of you who do not know the secret of the best margerita you have ever had - use half limeaid and half five-alive as your mixer. It will make even lousy tequila taste like the best margerita you have ever had.

I used to drink the berry version when I was a kid. It was a frozen concentrate that came in a dark red can. That stuff was the yummiest drink! I remember being so disappointed when they stopped making it.

I loved five alive as a kid. My mom would make us a special punch and float sherbert balls in it. We thought it was the greatest thing. Our local Market Basket just started carrying it again when I asked them if they could order some from minute maid. Now if we could just get the fruit punch or berry kind they use to sell to my world would be complete.

To Mark, you may be referring to the flavor Citrus Frosh...it was in a pinkish can...I loved that flavor and would buy it if I could find it. I'm guessing they don't make it anymore!!! :(

I remember the Five Alive in the red (frozen) cans, then we couldn't find it anywhere, only the blue cans which didn't taste nearly as good. I don't remember what it tasted like, just that my family loved it.

I also remember getting it in both the frozen concentrate and in the cardboard carton, and I remember the stuff from the carton tasted way better. I think the metal can lids reacted with the acidic concentrate and formed a bitter version of 5-Alive. I also seem to remember loving it in the mid-eighties when I was under ten. Then I had some a few years later, carton & everything, and I was thoroughly not impressed; my memory of it was better than the real thing (like so many things in life). I think that's why it's not around much; if there was a real demand Coca-Cola would promote & distribute it (along with crystal cola), but the beverage is a bitter mix of the main five citruses that leaves you wanting (unless you're 8-10). People love nostalgia, I'm 37 and I watched The Goonies today to capture just a little piece of the way I felt the first 15 times I saw it in the '80s.

Another drink in Wayne my wonderful mom would get my brother and me during the 80s! Our family eat well and healthy. We loved orange juice, but this was great for the kids that didn't like OJ. Looking at the picture brought back memories. You guys have such a great web page!

We had this for snack time at our Brownies meetings in the early 90s. It wasn't as good as Sunny D, but the name was a riot. My sister and I would joke that the opposite of Five Alive was Six Dead.

Five Alive first came out in 1971, under the Snow Crop brand. At the time, Snow Crop was in the foods division of Coca Cola. Before 1980, Snow Crop was phased out, and Five Alive went under the Minute Maid brand.
