These were a thickly cut type of potato chip that came out in the Mid-80's. They came in giant bags and were really cheap

There is something similar to these marketed primarily on the West Coast. There are three flavors: plain, Sweet Maui Onion and Luau BBQ. They are quite good, and they are still cheap. The name is "Hawaiian Potato Chips", and they are made by the same company that makes Tim's Cascade Potato Chips.

Now they have mango habanero and cracked pepper and sea salt flavors as well
