My mom used to pick these up at the grocery warehouse. I remember the mint creme flavor in particular.

I remember getting these out of a vending machine on the way to school one day and reading it and saying these aint no damn oreos, and making fun of the name still to this day

My friends used to call them Ghett-oreos, but I liked them.

i don't think many people realize that hydrox pre-dated oreos and actually got copied by them.

Does anyone else remember the Strawberry Cream ones? We found them in a store up in the Dells one year and never saw them again. I tried the Strawberry Milkshake Oreos when they were out, but they weren't the same.

The name always freaked me out. Why not just go ahead and call them Hydrogenated Oil Cookies. Mmmmmm.

still prefer them to oreos. I never cared for the strong flavor of oreos.

They were made by a company called Sunbeam. Hydrox was the name of the cookie.

Actually I think it was "Sunshine Bakers" co. who made this. They had them back out for a little while not to long ago. I still remember the little white creme guys "drox" on the commercials.

I had these once in the 90s and they were rock hard, submerging in milk only made them harder somehow. Hydrox sucks.

When I was in prison we used to get these on Wednesdays as desert. I love them, the white (Vanilla) ones are the best!

Peculiar ghost-brand. Distinctly unappetizing, curiously chemical name. Strange.

Oreo ripped off Hydrox.

They were discontinued and then brought back in 2008 for their 100th anniversary, then discontinued again. They were made by Sunshine and there is a 1989 commercial that includes them (along with other Sunshine products) on youtube

There is a block of commercials on youtube when you search for Hydrox called Supermarket Commercials part 4. It has a Hydrox commercial on it from the 60's (I'm guessing) which is nostalgically hilarious!

Most people think Hydrox is a knock-off of Oreos, but actually, it's the other way around, Hydrox came first.

Dylan and Karen, you might be remembering Hydrox Doubles. They were Hydrox but with extra creme and a circle of mint, strawberry, or chocolate fudge in the middle of the typical Hydrox sugar creme.
