These chips introduced me to Jalapeno. It burned my tongue but I could not resist having another chip. I would have to say there is nothing else like it on the market anymore. I will have to do some searching until they bring this back!

These were actually Jalapeno & Cheddar flavored not just plain Jalapeno.

I loved these chips and yes they were jalepeno and cheddar. they came out in late 1980's I believe I was a junior in high school and by the time I was ready to graduate from high school the following year I couldn't find them in Oklahoma anymore. Every time lays has has the chip commercials to come up with new flavors I send this request in but no luck yet.

No, there were plain Jalapeno also. They were delicious!!!

Forgot if it was plain Jalapeno or with Cheddar, but yes, I remember them. They were NON-Kettle, and to this day, I cannot find a non-kettle jalapeno chips that would replicate Lay's version in the 80's. Another one I like was Ruffle's Cajun Spice with that old dude that said, "I gauron-tee it!"

I have literally requested ORIGINAL Lays Jalapeno-Cheddar chips on the Frito-Lay website 10-15 times. I don't remember the exact year I first had these but I want to say I was in 8th or 9th grade (somewhere between 1988 and 1989). 30 years later I still crave them. Maybe 7-8 years ago I saw a Southwest Jalapeno-cheddar variety on the shelf, and it was pretty close, maybe the same recipe, but it left almost as quickly as it came. PLEASE PepsiCo and your subsidiary, Frito-Lay, bring these back!
