Sorry but the Little Tom's I remember are from the 60's. The best grape pop and root beer n earth!

I remember Little Toms. I would say that they are from the late 60's, early 70's. They came in a large wooden crate. I believe they came in 24's. There were more than two flavors. They came with a variety.

We used to get them for the First communion parties in Cleveland Ohio. We all fought over the Cream Soda. I think there was orange too.

yes.... the cream soda was the best. I am from Cleveland, and we would have them at every big family event/picnic or party.... what a great memory. wish i knew if they were still available.

We're having a huge family reunion in Cleveland this summer and I thought it would be cool to bring a few cases of little toms as a surprise. Anyone know if they're still around?

I grew up in Cleveland and we kept cases (wooden) of these in the basement recreation room. I remember the creme soda but I know they came in other flavors. Such great memories!

Sorry to say little tom is no longer made. The brand got pushed out by the bigger pop makers.

Yep...Little Toms were at every "special" event, like Communions and big summer parties. I remember several flavors...grape, rootbeer, orange, cream soda (yum) and...I can't believe no one has mentioned it...lime! The bright green color alone was enough to make you want to drink it! (though if memory serves me well, the lime did not taste that great! Seems they were always the last to go. LOL) I am not sure, but think there was a redpop/cherry-strawberry kind of flavor, too.

i remember little toms pop..was bought for family cook outs,,,special events and the cream soda was the best! and we used a small diameter paper straw too! that was the 1960's..brings back memories!

Yep, fond memories, for sure. There was a balck cherry flavored and a strawberry flavored soda, along with the others mentioned. We used to love them poured over a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream. Grape, root beer, and cream soda were the winners in our house. I am drooling just thinking about it.

Cleveland suburbs late 60's early 70's. We would get them at Willow Beverage in Willoughby...and yes, lime was least favorite. Root Beer and Creme Soda ruled!

Cleveland Suburbs late 60's and 70's BrookGate Beverage in Brook Park, OH. Creme Soda, Grape, Orange, Black Cherry, Root Beer and sometimes I think they had Strawberry....The best memories between those and Charles Chips which were delivered to our house.

I remember them, too. I think they are an idea whose time has come again....recycle the glass bottles, a wooden crate, small serving of soda... They were at all our special occasions in Cleveland (Euclid, actually), too.

I wish they still made them, I wanted to get some for my kids!! They were the best, Cream Soda was my favorite too!

The best pop around. We also had them for special events. They were so popular. I loved all of the flavors. Was this only a Cleveland item?
ann - July 01, 2013 - Report this comment
Im from Cleveland too, and my grandfather used to carry them in his grocery store, our favorites were the orange and black cherry.

We used to get them at the beverage store, corner of E.200th and Miller Ave. coming and going to school at Rosevelt Elementory. They were the best. Perfect size and great taste. We saved all the bottles. What a great time. If our children could experience what we had for just one day...

Is it possible that these went back even further than the 60's to the late 50's or so?

Little Tom's. I remember at parties that kids would begin one, then forget about it while playing. Bees would swarm the bottles because of course the beverage was pure sugar. Haha. My folks got them in old Brooklyn for our first communions and birthday parties. I think some of my aunts probably poured vodka in the bottle after a few slugs so their husbands wouldn't know they were drinking.

I found a old, dirty crate of these bottles in my dad's garage. Two are missing. One is cracked. 25 of them have red words, whereas, 9 of them have only white words with no red. Anyone interested in these?

I grew up near Cleveland and my grampa always made sure there was always little toms pop. I loved the cream soda and all the flavors. We recently had a family gathering and little toms came up in conversation. Miss them!

Little Tom's goes back to 1959 in Cleveland. Several bottle images I found sort of piece the company history, which ended around 1980. The earliest bottles, on back, either said "Cleveland, Ohio," or had a postal zone number between city and state. Bottles from 1964 on had a zip code after "Ohio." Smaller, local beverage companies always arouse my curiosity. Unfortunately, the internet doesn't always have all the answers.

We had little tins soda around all the time so many kids around I loved all the flavors I remember my grandparents always bought 10 cases a month for us to have with dinner every night. I wish they would bring them back again so today's grandparents could get them for the kids to much super size everything . I know I would buy 10 or more cases a month for my grand kids and of course myself I would drive to Marietta every 2 weeks to the beverage store and buy 6 cases for my daughter when she was little and her friends. I think about them all the time. Do you think they might come back I hope so.

I work for rustbelt revival. We are an auction company. We do online auctions in Cleveland after we have to go to a home of someone who has passed away. I am putting up an suction now that has two original little Tom bottles. The bidding only starts at $1.00 if anyone is interested. Love the history and reading all of your comments. Just go to bidrustbelt.com

The absolute best flavors. Grape, cream soda, orange, strawberry etc... They all tasted so good. We lived south of Cleveland in Northfield Center. Mostly they were bought for special occasions and family gatherings.

We used to have a bunch in the ice chest in the garage at summertime gatherings back in the 60's and 70's. I seem to recall a lime flavor that was really good.

I remember a variety of Little Tom sodas in the 70s when we’d visit our grandparents in Cleveland. I would love a grape or cream soda, I miss those Little Toms!

I used to live 2 blocks from little Toms bottling co. E70th.& Union ave. Cleveland I remember 60s- early 70s. We could go watch the bottling machine in action, it was quite fascinating as a kid, it was a small building with one large bottling machine. My friend worked there in early 70s.Cream soda was the best!

Yes, they were big even in late 70's, and very early 80s. We would also get them for parties, and our Catholic schools in the area would have them for functions.. St margaret Mary on Bluestone in S. Euclid. Good times. We always fought over the cream soda...lol. Little Toms was the 1st taste of it that got me hooked. Cleveland needs to bring em back. Old school style. Out of a basement, or gareage with a mini bottling machine, and ingredients stacked up. Haha. Enjoy your day fellow Rustbelters.:)
