I LOVED this stuff! I truly enjoyed the spaghetti sauce and macaroni; ate tons if it and the macaroni and cheese when I was a starving college student in the late '70s. I wish I could buy it today. It's truly a taste of the past that I miss.

As a child this was the ONLY thing I would eat. I LOVED the spaghetti mac. I wish they would bring it back.

The mac n cheese was my favorite. It was one of the first meals my mom would let me make on my own. Easy mac is good, but Mug O lunch was the best.

I always loved how the macaroni on the very top of the mug stayed crunchy if the water didn't completely cover it. I think I still have a 10 cent coupon for it somewhere!

I really liked the beef noodle. Pure MSG, it was. Ate this every day while I watched Sanford & Son after school. meli2sa is right about the crunchy, that was great. The macaroni and cheese had a distinct taste, like no other mac & cheese out today.

I am so glad I found this website about my favorite childhood food. The Mac and Cheese was the BEST. My sister always had the Beef Noodle. I wish Betty Crocker would bring this back again. It would be a wish for my 40th birthday(2/18/09). Please Betty, enlighten us children of the 70's/80's!!!!!!!

Mug O Lunch mac 'n' cheese was SO creamy and delicious. It was much better than anything out there then...and even today! I'm not sure, though, if it was the downfall toward my gaining weight through my adolescent years.

Ingredients? any thoughts? obviously: spaghetti Noodles elbow mac please feel free to add what you remember- If I can perfect it, I will share it. A problem to solve is to shorten the cooking time of the noodles- they may have to be parboiled and dried?

If somebody wants to duplicate the taste of the beef noodle get a box of beef noodle hamburger helper and use morningstar farms imitation hamburger crumbles instead of beef. Tastes identical.

I LOVED Mug O Lunch. I enlisted in the Army in 1977. All we were given for food in the field was C-Rations. I liked the chopped ham & eggs but not any of the others. It was always easy to swap though. I remember countless days and nights in the field. I always carried Mug O Lunch. It was so comforting Pulling guard duty at 4 am with little sleep, I could take my canteen holder afterwards and heat up some Mug O Lunch and it was SO satisfying. I would sleep like a baby, satiated. Nowadays there so many 'Add hot water and wait 3 minutes' meals.. I don't/won't eat them. But if good old fashioned Mug O Lunch became available again, I would eat it up. It's more than not-very-nutritious or healthy eating, it is more like a dear old friend. PLEASE bring it back. Not 'new' or 'improved' but the exact same thing that we loved in the late 70's/early 80's. Times have changed but some things never change and Mug O Lunch is one of those things. There will always be ramen noodles but it isn't the same.

I remember the beef chunks floating on top, in the beef & noodle recipe. The chunks were spongy. The noodles were crunchy on top. Same with the Mac & Cheese. I loved these. Used to eat them as an after-school snack while watching classic TV sitcoms. Great memories.

I remember both the mac-n-cheese and beef noodle varieties very well but never had the spaghetti variety. I would usually fix one or the other after coming home from school. My favorite was the beef noodle. I just loved the flavor of the beef noodle. The mac-n-cheese was made much better with a little sprinkle of black pepper on top and mixed in after cooking. I agree with some of the above comments: PLEASE Betty Crocker, Return this product to store shelves. We children of the late 70's/early 80's have fond and wonderful memories of this product plus with the advances in food tech since the initial release I'm sure ways can be found to make it better than it was to begin with.

I'm not sure how long i searched for a Mug O Lunch after they stopped making it, but it was certainly one of my favorites as a kid. And if you can indeed get a Mug O Lunch in a gift basket from Amazon...where are they getting them from? Are they still making them secretly? Hidden Mug O Lunch factory?

I remember being home with my mom on a weekday and me anticipating lunch time. She would ALWAYS buy them for me. Mac and cheese was the best thing EVER. Even though they have instant lunches now, for some reason, Betty was the one that got it RIGHT. PLEASE bring these back....I would buy them by the CASE and use them for work.

beef mug o lunch was the greatest fast food lunch ever. i worked in a meat market in the late 70's & early 80's and man we couldn't keep that stuff on the shelves. i would buy a case of the beef flavor instead of buying a steak. BRING IT BACK!

I've still got a coupon for 10¢ off a box of it! I loved how the mac & cheese noodles would have a few crunchy ones top if you shorted the water just a tiny bit.

High School...I would come home for lunch and the Mac n Cheese was THE BEST...I would put a ton of butter in it and an extra slice of Kraft American cheese on top....I swear it was the greatest food ever made

Wow, peeps still commenting about this. Well my memory was of course very early 80's and my bro and I would go through them quick except wagon wheels, I think a box of those stayed in pantry into the 90's. They had a distinct flavor, like you could blind fold someone and they would know it's Mug-o-Lunch.

My Mom would never have allowed these in the house, but my friends had them. Whenever I got one at my friends house, I always chose Mac and Cheese. I never let them stew as long as they were supposed to, so my noodles were generally a bit on the crunchy side, and the cheese powder sauce was probably more watery than necessary, but that was how I liked it! I miss these stupid things. :)

I emailed Better Crocker yesterday and they answered me today. They are planning to re-introduce Mug-O-Lunch! Don't know if it will be permanent, but I will enjoy my fav beef noodle!
