Description
cO2 laced candy that made a popping noise when put in your mouth. They came in many fruit flavors. Never "chase" these with soda pop or watch out.

We ate Pop Rocks all the time...they were so cool. We use to tell the girl down the street that it was poison..we would put it on her doll then add water. She always ran home screaming. That was mean, I know, but we were only 10.
the myth was that if you ate it with soda you would explode-a rumour was going around was that mikey from life cereal commercial fame died from the combo of poporocks and pop. i know its not true but fun to think about.
Also rumor had it back in the 80's that if you fed them to seagulls they would explode.
My mother and aunt would give these to the family dog for fun. The poor pup would run around in a panic but always returned for more. I loved these and actually purchased some a few months ago for the fun of it.

These things are ridiculous! I love them though. I told my younger brother they would blow his head off if he ate them with soda! He freaked out for days! It was hilarious, until I had to prove that I was lying. Ahh, the things you do when you are 14 and have brothers ate the age of 4. lol

Wonder how many people nearly (or actually) died gagging on this stuff, eating it with or without soda?
Can you imagine a company now trying to introduce something like Pop Rocks, considering the liability risk in today's politically-correct sue-happy society??
youu can still buy pop rocks, i used them in my mouth on my bf...hehe
I knew "Ddp" groing up. He was busted for assaulting and abusing his younger siblings. Total nut case and criminal. But PopRocks were the bomb, yo. Didn't here about Mickie dying from them, crazy amy, but it was a BIG rumor that PopRocks & Soda was a death bomb.
I told everyone that there were Poprocks and there was that myth about eating them with soda and blowing up. How funny
Back in NJ in the late 70's early 80's I don't think there was a kid in school that didn't know what Pop Rocks were. And, yes, there was the tall tale that you'd blow your guts out with soda. But what kind of idea would tell a 4 year old that. Ddp sounds like a piece of garbage. not surprised he was arrested
