I am being driven slowly mad by the memory of an alien-themed pasta. Specifically I am thinking of the ad in which a being that had befriended two human children exclaimed to them, "You Earth people put stars in a bowl?". It had a freakish trilling voice that I'd often made fun of.

Nope, that's not it. It was specifically called UFO's which I, for some reason, am still on the hunt for the retro-mercial.

I thought I was the only one who remembered those! They were discontinued in the 80's, I believe? I was starting to think I was crazy. My mom always bought me a can of UFO's and "Opera" cookies. :)

Yeah, I bet! I've been trying to find stuff online about them for like 2 years or something and hadn't been able to track down a thing. Nice sleuthing!!! I loved watching the commercial; still remember all the funky pasta shapes. Even at 4, I knew it was nasty stuff and refused to eat it.

Update: I thought of the ad again, but this time I wasn't going to endure the mystery any further. Thanks to my stubbornness, I FINALLY found the darned ad! Here, surprisingly well if imperfectly remembered after a ***quarter century***, is the "alien" ad for what proved to be Campbell's Chicken and Stars soup. Google the terms "campbell's soup alien retro static", click the first match, then select the video right after the Cadbury Bunny... and then enjoy and/or join me in my slow descent into madness ;-)

U.F.O. stands for Unidentified Flying Object! So, technically, there can be UFO's and NOT flying saucers with little green men from Mars.

don't remember these i don't think were they in the late 80's oh and yeah i seen that commercial of campbell's chicken and stars i loved it so retro born in 86 but love them 80's and yes im proud to say i do remember most of the late 80's..:)

Hey, went to that page "sza" guy and it was great. Please don't be so hard on sza Mr. Einsteirn but different. He's doing a good thing. ANd this is a great snake I would imagine. But, men from space, or The Grays are fun to think about. I hope they come and visit us.
