I also have had the new pudding pops, they are NOT the same as they used to be!! The old ones were creamy and smooth just like puding- the new ones are artificial tasting, although remeniscent of the old ones. Why do they mess with perfection? And the bite size peanut butter granola was DELICIOUS also. I dont recall the name, but nature valley made it i'm almost sure. I recently saw bite size granola in a pouch in the supermarket, however I believe it was made by Quaker. I havent tried it yet.

Vachon Bakery (Canada) used to sell products in New England during the 70's to mid 80's- rectangle puff pastries filled with fruit and creme w/sugar crust on top called "Flakey Puffs" (Passion Flakes in Canada) and "Puff Pies"-rectangle pastry 'napoleons' with frosting on top (called "Milles Feuilles" ("1000 layers") in Canada). Vachon pulled out of the New England market in the mid 80's after being bought by a bigger company. "Drakes Cakes" sold "Pick 'M Ups" (Flakey Puff Clone) until the mid to late 90's but they too discontinued what I consider the greatest snack of all time... The FLAKEY PUFF!!

Both companies still produce a line of pudding today, only now they're in in plastic cups.

Does anyone remember a fudge-y snack cake that was coated with a layer of powdered sugar? I think they were round or oval. And I used to get them from the snack bar at one of the high schools in the city where we lived in the southwest. They were fabulous. Sweet, fudge-y and soft. But they were hard to find, even back in the day, or maybe my mom just didn't want me to have them. Anyway, she bought them a couple of times and then they just disappeared. Sometimes, I can still taste them -- the memories are so vivid-- but I don't remember what they were called or who made them. They were like ding dongs, only I know they weren't ding dongs. Individually packaged in a single serving size. And the closest thing I can find on the market now to recreate the flavor memory is a fudge-flavored pop tart. But it's not the same! This has been driving me crazy for years and I would love it if someone out there knew what I was talking about and could at least tell me what they were called and who made them. Please help!

I don't remember anything specifically called 'Pizza O's', no, but I have a distinct memory of a Franco American canned pasta whose "gimmick" was that the sauce was PIZZA-flavored, not just plain tomato. @Nikki "Does anyone remember a frozen dessert you could buy at the grocery store, it was marketed as kind of fancy. The commerical showed it in martini glass looking dish but it was rectangle ice cream layered with hard chocolate shell. Kinda wavy like lasanga. My mom remembers it so I know I am not crazy. I believe it came in chocolate and vanilla."- The dessert was called Vienetta! It can still be found in some parts of N.America

I have one for you guys. When I got babysat in the 80's, my mom would let me pick out a special meal. In the mid 80's I always picked the same kind. It was a seafood sampler & came in a blue box. It had a fish cake, some shrimp, some scallops, some clam strips, and a fish fillet (haddock or cod). All were breaded & fried. I can't remember the name of the company that made this. Anyone else remember?

The difference between Skinny Dippers and Dunkaroos, is this.Dunkaroos, come with cookie sticks in shapes,on the side of the frosting which in a more Cheeze and craxkers style package, recatangular in shape, came in Chocolate with cookies and also white frosting with sprinkles with grahm sticks.Skinny Dippers were in a roundish topped can like cardboard cup shaped container. container and the long sticks within it were crackers,Long brownish thin crackers, that you dunked into frosting. The frosting was in a plastic brown area at the top of the container, and hung only partially way down into the whole can area, but the crackers were longer and took up the entire space.Skinny dippers came in chocolate and strawberry for certain, maybe vanilla too.And the craxkers were the same I believe in them all. Also the Nerds cereal had two flavors of Red and Orange cereals, in two separate bag areas within the boxes. They were very much set up like the candy was, separate sides, and nerds candy IS still on the market. The cereal is a thing of the past, but it was very sweet and good as I recall.

I've been searching for this for a while and have come across other things in my search that just aren't it. What WAS in the center of the granola bar/log was ICING. Not unlike an Oreo center in consistancy. They came with either chocolate or vanilla icing centers, but no coating on the outside. Just chewy granola and I clearly remember having a hard time choosing a favorite between the two flavors because whichever one I was eating at that moment seemed the best. I am trying to think of the name of those pop tart-like pasteries that you put in the toaster that were cinnamon and was like 2 pieces of twisted dough- man those were good. Also do you remember Monster Chomp cookies - each flavor had its own monster on the package and every cookie had a 'bite' taken out supposedly by a monster hehe! My fave snack ever to be discontinued was the super delicious Doritos cracker-crisps - I loved the cool ranch ones even better than the original Doritos.

I remember in the late 80s and early 90s there was a brand of frozen yogurt bars. The only flavour I remember was strawberry but there may have been others. They were the flatter style popsicles and had big chunks of strawberry in them. So much better than today's "real fruit" bars... they came wrapped in white paper with pink dots or dainty little flowers or maybe even polka dots. All I remember is that they had some small little pink design on the white wrapper and box. They were sold at the convenience store around my childhood neighbourhood near Toronto Ontario. I remember once my mom bought a box of 4 at the grocery store and they were pricey... please if anyone remembers let me know!

Jimmy - May 11, 2008 - Report this comment I remember these little round watermelon candies that looked like..well, watermelons. They were deep green on the outside and red on the inside. Not sour, kind of chewy. Anyone got a name for them? They're not watermelon jelly bellies, like another commenter suggested. They were a Ferrara Pan (now Ferrara Candy Co.) product, analogous to its Johnny Appleseed, Alexander the Grape, and Lemonhead products. They all originally came in little cardboard boxes with seemed like retro ('60s-ish?) graphics to me when I was eating (and loving) them in the mid '80s. Ferrara Candy Co still makes the Lemonheads, and for awhile (between when the watermelon, apple, and grape candies were discontinued and just a year or two ago) the products 'Appleheads' and 'Cherryheads,' and maybe more (but no 'Watermelonheads). The Appleheads and Cherryheads are apparently still available commercially but again are not mentioned on the FCC web site, which could spell their impending doom. But I have no idea if the Appleheads would be exactly the same as the Johnny Apple Seed product, and I don't remember a cherry product in the original line-up. I *really* miss the watermelon and grape flavors, and the original apple. Maybe I'll buy some 'Appleheads' to see how close they are to the real deal before I lose the chance forever...

I would kill (not literally, but you know what I mean) for some Tangy Taffy right now. I've heard (well, actually heard a couple years ago.. could be dated info by now) that Wonka produced Laffy Taffy (nothing like Tangy Taffy, I realize), and one particular version of this product (a certain size or something - nothing to do with the name or any other indication it was different from the regular Laffy Taffy) tasted like Tangy Taffy. I had my doubts, and I'm not even sure that *that* product exists anymore to be tested (I mean, the Tangy Taffy-like Laffy Taffy, not Laffy Taffy in general).

SZA, thanks again. I believe your tip led me to the answer. On the Mentos Wikipedia page, they talk about a similar candy that Mentos fans call the "anti-mentos" lol. However, there's no pic of the actual packaging anywhere so I can't be sure. Unfortunately, it seems to be discontinued. :(((((( Oh well, I'll have to give fruit flavored Mentos a try.

The chips themselves had a very distinctive bacon taste. They were very thin rings and were pale yellow in colour. They had a texture and taste similar to chips made on tapioca flour. Perhaps they were???? I have searched and searched for any information on these chips, but to no avail. OK I know I'm not crazy. This was a real thing. In the early 80s, there was a company that sold a slushie/icee type drink. They came in little wax cups (like you used to get at the ballpark) and your choices were orange or lemon. The logo on the yellow cup was a tree that had a bunch of oranges on one side and lemons on the other. I'm not sure but I believe we bought them from a truck that came around, like the ice cream truck. The name on the cups was something like Damon or Damian or something. I lived in south Alabama then and couldn't have been more than 5 (so I'm trying to go off of a memory over 30 years old). If anyone remembers this or knows about it please tell me because I couldn't have just imagined it.

I am going nuts trying to figure out what this brand of oatmeal cookie was. I don't know if it's strictly an "80s" food because I was a kid at the time, but I don't think they're in production anymore. They were plain, as far as I remember, definitely no raisins. They came in a box that was mostly white but had a cellophane "window" on one side where you could see the cookie. The cookies themselves were on the thinner side but seemed large in diameter (at least to my child brain), and I distinctly remember a small indent in the center of the cookie. The only one I've found that's close to that look is the Voortman's oatmeal cookie, but the packaging isn't close to what I'm remembering. My mom used to buy them all the time, but she can't remember the brand name, either. I feel like the logo was some kind of circle. But, again, not Voortman's. It's driving me and my sister nuts!!
