I have almost 150 Breyers! My first set, a mare and foal Clydesdales with green stable blankets, are still in good condition. The ONLY problem is the white on all Breyers turn yellow with either age, gas heat, or cigarette smoke and it does NOT wash off. :(

My sister and I had SO many of these. They are still on display on a bookshelf at home. We would save our tiny allowances just to buy more. She had several Stablemates as well, the super tiny ones. We couldn't afford to buy any accessories so we figured out how to create very clever and pretty darn realistic-looking by using rubber bands! My awesome grandpa built my sis a fantastic little wooden stable and fenced corral that fit them perfectly.

My cousins used to have shelves of these toys. We'd make up little familys of them and would have the "teens" date and stuff too. We even had a draft system for picking who got to play with which ones in a given day...there used to be ugly fights over that! :-)

Actually, Breyers have a huge and very sophisticated hobby following. They're collectibles more than playthings. I have about 350 accumulated over 30 years, and that's not even considered a very big collection.

I have around 400 Breyers. i am big into showing and customizing these models. They are not toys anymore. Model horse showing is a sophisticated hobby. The custom tack made for them has to been seen to be believed. You think you're looking at a real horse. My favorite model is the Standardbred Pacer. I have 15 of them, and most are customs and rare ones. I eve3n have sulkies, harnesses, and number blankets for them, as well as drivers. Breyer also makes dolls that can be used as riders or drivers. Clothes can be made for them as well.
