I never had the dolls, but I remember them doing a jazz version of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer on the Claymation Christmas I just saw on Youtube earlier today. Also, I used to have a commercial of the on tape, where they were doing a parody of Marvin Gaye's "Heard it Through the Grape Vine, and there was a guy in his kitchen who was made out of clay dancing to the music with them.

I loved these little purple guys and gals! I still have the female raisin with yellow high heels sitting on my desk. They were great and I loved the Claymation Christmas. Man, those were the days!

I remeber these for 2 distinct reasons, 1) they were great toys and 2) It meant we had just eatin Hardees, that's where I collected them. :)

California Raisins are so cool. I have several of the small figures from Hardees. I used to even have a t-shirt with these dudes on it.

I remember Hardees fast-food restaurants sold/gave these away as promotional toys to coincide with their raisin cinnamon breakfast buns. My folks still have tons of them- Mom tied strings on 'em and used them as Christmas ornaments. Oh, and remember them singing 'Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer' in that Claymation Christmas special?
amy - December 11, 2008 - Report this comment
I remember having some of these. They also had a Christmas show that came on for a few years. I loved watching them and listening to their music!

It seems I'm not the only fan of the classic Claymation Christmas! I remember in 3rd grade for the talent show, all the teachers in the school dressed up as the Raisins and danced to "Grapevine" on the stage, it was funny seeing the grouchy old teachers participating! I had these figures and a series not depicted here, which had bendy arms and held baseball bats and saxes, etc.

They sold these at like Hardees one and my dad had them all until like 5 years ago and my mom threw them out. Now she's always looking around the house for something collectible to sell. I think it's call irony but i'm not sure

The Rudy Rutabega, the Broccli, all the other ones are really rare. I have a few of the Rasins, most of the band except the drummer. Still need to get the wind-ups.

I've got quite a few California Raisins toys, a lot of which probably originally came from Hardees.

Most of the California Raisins found to bed for sale are chewed up and not worth anything but people seem to think each one is worth a million dollars. A few are badly painted as folks try to cheat and claim they are new. How much is a chewed up and badly repainted figurine really worth?
