Me and my sister used to play it in the late 80's I was like 4. I remember that early on in the game if you landed on a certain spot you would take a shortcut to the end of the game and pretty much win. I used ot get Pissed when my sister landed on that spot.

I liked Queen Frostine the best!

Queen Frostine rocks and Plumpy stinks! And I hate Lord Licorice, and Jolly is creepy. I love the whole royal family (King Kandy, Queen Frostine, and Princess Lolly) and I always thought Gramma Nutt and Mr. Mint were okay. I'm still undecided about Gloppy... The blue gingerbread man is the best piece to use!

Candy Land was such a great blast from the past! I loved the fact that the game was so simple and colorful. I loved the movers and I thought that Gramma Nutt was a cute fat little woman and Queen Frostine was very beautiful.

I played my game so much with my grandpa that we about wore out the cards and my grandma had to laminate them. Those were the days.

I had the early '80's version. I played it all the time as a kid! You had to recognize the colors on the cards and move to those spaces or move to the space with the corresponding symbol on it. Different areas of the board had a different candy theme.

They changed the rules in the new version of the game. It used to be that when you land on a spot with a black dot, you were stuck there until you drew the right color card. Now you simply lose one turn. Heaven forbid a preschooler might get upset!

The best! Except I didn't like that Molasses Swamp! I just looked it up and see they changed the name to chocolate swamp! hilarious kids don't know what molasses is??

Haha, Kim, if you are mean like me you could always change the rules BACK. How are those preschoolers to know what the instructions REALLY say??!

I didn't have Candyland...I didn't know about the game until one day in 2nd grade it was raining outside and we had different stations to go to to play games to keep us preoccupied. All the girls were crowded around the game and I pushed my way in to see why and saw that there was a wand and crown and I think there was a pink boa fluffy thing. We had to win the game in order to wear it but I couldn't play it because there were so many girls circling the game and wanting to play it...I was born in '85...

I had this game when I was a little girl. My mom and I would play for hours. Unfortunately, when we moved, I had to give it to my cousins. And I had the first edition. It probably would be worth something today. My parents sucked sometimes.

My parents bought me and my stepbrother this game back in the 80s. Unfortunately over the years some cards got lost, the box too, and one or two plastic gingerbread men. Thus it became useless to play with. I loved the old 80s version of the game. My fiancee and I picked up Candyland at the store one day and took it home then opened it up to find they had "modernized" the look of the board and the rules were made to please today's kids a little too much. We were disgusted and returned it back to the store and instead picked up a Clasic version they were selling.

I always wanted Candy Land, but my parents wouldn't get it. When I got older, like 13 or 14, they got it for me. I still played it over and over. Until I couldn't convince my 17 year old sister to play with me anymore. Then, I just played by myself. LOL I was born in 81.

My son got Candyland for his 4th birthday. It's appearance + game pieces have changed. My son isn't as into it as I was. My mom and I would play over and over in the afternoons after morning kindergarten was over. There seems to be more girl names than boys on this blog, so maybe he's just not that into it. I wish he was.
