That's true, Furbys were first released in 1997 I think.

I still have one lol, they were weird. And yeah I think your right, they came out in 97.

Furbys came out in 1998. I remember standing in line at 5 AM in the morning at KB Toys the day after Thanksgivin that year to get one. Furby is definately not an 80s toy.

I had some toy like a furby in the early 80's it would talk by its self at different times. I thonk you had to raise it like a child what was it?

The only toys I can think of in the 80's that were even remotely like Furby are the Talking Cabbage Patch Kids and Axlon's Petsters.

The prototype didn't even happen till 96's this is so in the wrong section.

i was born in 86 and love the 80's even if this wasn't an 80's toy i loved it actually i still have mine and to think of it it does remind you a bit of gizmo from gremlins anyone else think so?

There was a Gizmo Furby made. I know, I have one. And yep, this little guy was born in 1997, not the 80s.

I have an incredibly clear memory of my Furby... I was pretty young. And it was definitely in the 80's.... In 98, I was 23yrs old. Not sure what kind of madness is going on here. Freakin Twilight Zone.

I owned 3 furbies when I was in my early teens. My best friend had even more. We used to try to get them to interact with each other. I was 26/27 in 1996. I had my first kid in 1992 and I promise, I didn’t own any furbies at that time or later. I also remember thinking how weird it was that they were rereleasing them. I’ve researched this for YEARS. One of my kids was talking about them and I mentioned having some and how their aunty had them as well (I married my bf’s bro). So they asked her about them and she had no idea what I was talking about. I was completely floored because I even remember her having one that was a white and black tiger print one and was jealous of it. I remember being excited when they actually did what I was trying to get them to do (sing together). I ran across one single person with the same memory until just now when I see Nadine Skalla above in 2021 says the same thing. The other guy was much earlier. So…there’s at least three of us with 80’s furbies memories even though there is nothing to prove it at all. We would have been around 13-14 years old so amount ‘83-‘84-ish. My kids never had any so I’m not confusing it with that either. I have no siblings so it’s not them or their kids having one. It’s really jarring. Especially since it’s not a large group of people remember something incorrectly. It’s just a few of us, all approximately the same age or during the same time. And yes, I know what everything says that you can look up yourself now. There is nothing to even hint toward an 80’s furby.
