Oh I'll never forget my munchichi. I tell people now that one of my favorite toys was the munchichi and I get the same reaction every time, "A WHAT!?" I'm so glad it made this list.

I was suprised when I found them at the San Bernardino Mall in the Claires and Hot Topic stores I just had to purchase one of each style becuase they have dressed up in diffrent outfits.

I STILL HAVE MINES!!! He's grey and worn but I love him and my husband tries to hide him every chance he gets!! His name is Nappy and he sucks his thumbs and I let my sons play w/him occasionally. I will grow old with him...I got em on my 3rd Christmas and I remember when the lady upstairs bought him down for me...Memories *sigh*

My sister had a "clown" monchichi we called, "Lester" and a little one we called, "Reggie". We loved 'em! "Monchichi, monchichi, oh, so soft and cuddly...!" (That's all I can remember. LOL)

I so remember the monchichi's, i mention them all the time and none of my friends remember them. my 5 month old looks like a monchichi. and she is sooooo cute.
i wanted one very badly. my parents got me one for christmas, so they thought. it was gray but not a monkey, it was a cat. the ears were flat against the head. it really looked like a monkey in the package. i dont remember who made it or what it was called but i loved it just the same. once, i left it in west virginia at my grandparents house. omg! i cried the entire trip home. i had to wait several months until we got back down there. i still have her.

I loved my munchichi more than words can say. She got a whole in her arm and I fragged her around with me all over gods green earth with a limp arem and no hand. My dad threw her away one day when i went to school. I am still mad and i am almost 30!

Oh and the bad guys were called Grumplins and their leader was called Grumplor. The Wizard leader of the Monchhichis was called Whizzer. I just looked them up on Toon Trackers, and realized that I was like 4 when the show aired! Funny b/c I swear i remember it!
I currently live in Japan and they are HUGE! here, they are sold everywhere. I too had one when I was a toddler and still have it to this day. I got a new one recently and am getting a monchichi tattoo!

I feel like I have a Monchhichi family now! I never knew anyone else that had one. I am glad that some of yours look like mine, it is old and nappy with no stuffing and I tried to sew up his side when I was probably eight with some baby blue ribbon.

that's funny how a lot of people don't know what a monchichi is. Im 20 and I know what it is even my 3 year old niece knows what it is she even has one and wants another for her birthday. I love those things!!
It is so funny to read these comments because every time I talk about my monchichi monkeys I had as a kid, everyone does say "a what"! Monchichi, Monchichi, oh so soft and cuddly. With there thumb in there mouth there really neat - fun to wiggle those little feet - can't remember anymore!

Oh I loved these toys as a kid, I just never knew they were called munchichis. I used to play with them. I never watched the cartoon. I never owned one of these though. I had monkey toys growing up. This was my favorite. I'll have to find one an order it.

LOL!!! I thought I was the only one around that remembered Monchichi's. I was in FAO Schwarz the other day and from a distance I saw a cute little monkey and I literally ran across the store yelling "MONCHICHI". Those workers probably thought I was crazy because they were just too young to remember. I am a 30 year old women that had a lot more fun in there then my 4 year old.

You can totally get NEW monchichi's today! I was in Disney World in Epcot Center in the gift shop at the Japan Pavilion and they had a whole display of them. Of course I bought one! I think they are still popular in Japan, kind of like Hello Kitty.
I'm a 30 year old black man with a munchichi!!! I took him to college with me when i played football and my teammates reagged me all the time. I still have him.
I remember them too. I sing the song in my head from time to time and once in a while I sing out loud. My kids think I am crazy but I don't care. I loved them as a kid and had one with a banana in its hand that you could put in its mouth. I also use to watch the cartoon, but it has been a long time so I don't remember a whole lot about it.
a few years ago i self proclaim my nickname to be MONCHICHI when i woke up and wasnt wearing hair gel...i remeber having one when i was a child in the 80's. alot of my friends dont know the doll so i will buy one to show them. im glad to see so many people loving the monchichi still!!! lets bring monchichi back as the hottest toy of 2009!!!

I had a tape of the Monchichis which was very annoying! I also had a knock-off version whose beans would seep into the head so the body was flat and limp while the head rattled from being full of beans!

I first got my Monchichi when i was 10 Yrs Old ,I have a Black one,Whichi named "Fiona". I am a grown Man,but i never let anyone play with my Monchichi nor touch it ...Oh Yeah im now 38Yrs Old and it still sits in my shelf like As if my mom had Just gave it to me ,that animal means the world to me.It has seen a lot of me ..28 Yrs later.I Can Still Remember The Day I Wanted Her...

I always say I love you Monchichi to my mom and she rolls her eyes at me as though I'm calling her an ugly monkey, when in reality she was the one who puchased the entire collection of the Monchhichhi for me and absolutely love them! I tell my 8yr old daughter how special they were to me and how cute and adorable they are! I'm so happy I found this page and found all these fans for them!

I remember the monchichis, too :)) I never had one, but I had something that looked a lot like one. I think it was a Fruity(sp?) It was small and furry with the plastic face and hands like the monchichi, but they came in different colors(pink, purple, etc.) It also had a little plastic stem in it's head with a leaf. I've been trying like mad to find another one. Any one else have one?

Yeah, the evil monchichis were the Grumplins. Or as the song went: The Grumplins are very mean to the monchichis.Every day they tease try to catch and squeeze. So back up to the trees go the Monchichis. Monchichi means happiness! I don't know why I remember this. I had exactly one monchichi and never cared for it. I did watch the cartoon though it was never a favorite. Why my mind retained parts of the theme for a cartoon that meant little to me I'll never know.
Yes I love the Monchichis. I went to Japan 2 years ago and bought 1 wearing a kimono. I also bought a couple of monchichi keychains. Im going to Japan again in August and I'll definitely bring back more monchichis!!!!
Oh my:) Nobody is going to believe me, but they were sold in the Soviet Union back then. Don't know whether the idea was stolen (Cold War, espionage and so on;)) and they were made somewhere there, or they came from Germany. As I was 4 I just didn't care;) But I can still remember mine - she was almost black and her name was Bodia - don't ask what it was supposed to mean, I just loved the sound:) Her face probably differed slightly.
Last christmas I was in the grocery store in San Diego and low and behold there they were.... I started singing the song with my sister and ended up buying them for my daughter and niece so that they could love them as much as I did when I was a kid and had them. I still hold it against my mom for getting rid of them. Such great memories.

I finally bought my first real Monchhichi today. I was in the store in Vancouver, and there he was, staring at me. I've waited for over 30 years for this little guy to show up. I had a fake one that my mom bought for me in Hungary back in the 80's, but despite the fact that I loved him dearly, I've always had this awareness that he was fake. I'm sooooo happy. It's like finding true love at last. My 17 year old daughter thinks I'm nuts, but I don't care.

I only had the Monchichi Colorforms set, but I loved it and took it everywhere! Like a lot of other people though, over time I forgot the details and 'everyone' else forgot about them and I thought I'd just made it up, like they were my imaginary friends or something...GO MONCHICHI!!
My mom bought my first monchhichi when i was 6yrs old. I'm now 31 and i still have him "eric". Yes he's my pride and joy. Although he's very grungy looking and falling apart i still treasure him. I have 2 display cases full of monchhichi's. You can buy them on ebay or monchhichioutlet.com. It's great to know that there are other monchhichi fans out there. Here i thought i was the only crazy one about monchhichi's. I think i'll pass on the love i have for monchhichi's with my kids someday when i have them :o)
found a monchichi at a thrift store this weekend. Only cost me 75 cents.

My daughters first doll was a Monchichi. Now she is 30 and having a baby of her own. I didn't tell her but I saved her Monchichi all these years. She adored that doll and will be so surprised when the baby is born in a few weeks and I bring her old baby to the hospital to meet her new one. :)

This 2009 Christmas my kids got me a Monchichi for a present and it brought back so many childhood memories. How sweet of them to think of me. I remember my monkey was old and his fur on his head came off like a hooded jacket and we got rid of him when we got rid of my old Childhood dolls. Limited storage and just ready to separate. I feel like Toy Story movie and relate with the childhood stores and where do they end up. Thanks kids for bringing my childhood back and Mommy Loves her Monchichi and will have it buried with it when I pass on this one day ....far far from now. Love you kids!

i have a monchichi key chain....or should say had...ive had it since i was like 5. im now 29....and the otherday I lost my car keys...with my keychain on it...i am devestated at the loss...im hoping one day they resurface after all the snow melts :(

I got my first Monchichi from my dad's boss at a company Christmas party. I was 6 years old. When our house burned down in 1987 we lost everything. Just a few years ago my sister surprised me with a Monchichi still in its box she got off of Ebay it was the best present she could have gotten me. Now a friend of mine told me that Target is selling them again and I will so be trying to get one.

I was given a cute monchichi when I was 5 yrs ol.I m now married and have a daughter, but my dear old monchichi still lives with me. Yesterday was pleasantly surprised to find that a local shop in Malta, near to where I live has got Monchichis. D shop owner was amused to see me so excited on finding siblings for my old monchichi!!! I bought two, and my daughter is constantly running about with d girl monchichi. ;0)

As a kid I lost a small white monchichi at the zoo! I was devastated. I also had a slightly larger one with brown fur. Cute toys.

3)7" tall Monchichi baby in cat outfit with pacifier in a hand. The pacifier could go into her mouth :-)
4)6" tall Monchichi in Chinese military outfit (Chairman Mao outfit). This one is really special!
5)Three 4.5" baby monchichis (Bebikiki) with pacifier in hand or mouth (the pacifier can go both way): one in blue cloth diaper; one in Samurai outfit; and another one in physician/doctor's white outfit.
These are all very cute and can be great presents to your loved one.
I`m 14 and iLOVE Monchhichis. !! iJUST got one from my cousin as an early birthday present and iTreasure her dearly. None of my friends know what they are, but that doesn`t matter. Wishing to get more in the future. They are so darn adorable. Plus, they should start showing the cartoon on Boomerang. That would be so cool to watch now(:

I got mine since i was a toddler.. It was my Godmother's but given to me as i love it so much... Till today i still have it.. old but still my number one love.. I call it "Xiao Mao Mao" In mandarin its means Little furry..=)

I love Monchhichi's! I have more than 20 of them. I cuddle mine to sleep every night lol! They have the cutest faces with a "I didn't do it!" look in their eyes. Adorable and they all look like they have their own personality. I've even sewn clothes for some of them.

Back in the 80's i would have it cling to my arm and people would look at me and think it was a real monkey clinging to my arm (if only they know,lol)... Now i am looking for the same kind to give to my kids and my nieces and nephews but i couldnt find it anymore.. My mom gave it away when we moved.. Missed it so much..
I'm 17 and I know what monchhichis are! When I was 4, I had an old hand-me-down bebichhichi and it was the best. I lost him not long after I got him when I got hit by a car. It was an awful experience, but I found a new one online I'm getting for my birthday and I am so excited!
My mum got a monchichi when she was a kid and she still has him now he is very battered my sister broke him but mum fixed and I have one even though I am just 13! I love them!
