I got one of these dolls for my 6th b-day and my sister (who was 3 at the time) cut her ponytail off, hoping it would grow back. oh, well.

I wanted this doll so badly when I was small. I asked for it every Christmas, birthday etc. and never did receive one. I jokingly tell my mother that I'm emotionally scarred because I never got one. How funny that I stumbled across one on-line tonight :)

I begged for one of these for Christmas when I was about 4, I wanted it SOOO desperately--bugged my parents for weeks for that thing! I remember them telling me that they were not going get it for me. So, I locked myself in my room and cut my hair with some scissors my mom had left out while wrapping presents...just lopped my curls right off! I came out of my room and my mom started screaming "oh no", my dad ran in because he thought someone was dying in the hall, and my older brother fell on the floor laughing. My mom grabbed me, threw my coat hood on my head, and took me the the Regis hair salon in the local mall, and I returned with a pixie cut in some places only an inch long. We still have pictures of that Christmas, and 26 years later my mom still tells the "Pretty Cut and Grow" Story or, "That Time You Cut Your Hair" (BTW, my uncle and aunt bought me the doll for my birthday--3 days after Christmas)

There was another doll similar but the ponytail was just on the side and you lifted one arm to make the hair grow longer and then the other arm to shorten it back again. There were two sized dolls you could get. Does anyone know the dolls im talking about?

I had a pretty cut and grow! It was my favorite toy. I got it for my 10th birthday. I wish I could get one for my daughter, but they seem really hard to find!

I'm unfortunately not really familiar with these dolls but in cleaning out an old house I found 3 hair refills for these particular dolls. They are in the original boxes but for some reason I have 2 boxes that say black but have blond "hair" in them and 1 that is blond with a box thats for blond. So in short I have 3 blond refills if anyone is interested. I'm going to post on ebay. There is one of these dolls on goodwills website.

My mom got me one of these dolls for christmas and I absolutely loved it I would cut her hair and pull up to see it grow again. I was so happy.

I received one of these dolls when I was little after months of eyeing it in the Sears catalog. After opening it (my dream was to be a hair dresser when I was young), I ran to get sharp scissors, only to return to find that my sister had pulled out ALL of the hair and chopped it off at the scalp. My doll was never replaced and I have never cut a Pretty Cut and Grow dolls hair. 25 years later I am still bitter!

I was given one when i was 9 and it was stolen when i was 17 i so want one again

I was just thinking about my Pretty Cut and Grow doll...I remember having one when I was about 5 or 6...I loved that doll, it got lost when I moved from where I lived and wondered where I might find one.
