Description
You sit, you spin. It had a post running through the center of it that you would use to spin your self on a big circular plastic base.

I had a blue Care Bears one. I used it until I was too big to fit on it and my mom made me get rid of it. They still make them now-a-days!

My friends and I were sitting around discussing the need for an adult sit and spin. Any chance there is already one out there?

My cousin and I would have a sit n' spin contest. Whoever could spin the fastest without falling off won! LOL!

Who didn't have a Sit 'n Spin? They were the best! I can't remember what mine looked like, though.

I had the blue Care Bear one as well. I used to love it, though I remember it made me feel pukish.

One of my younger brothers and I shared one, but we thought it was called a "spit and spin." It was also the blue Care Bears one. I found this site because I want to get one for MY kids, who are 1 and 5. And the adult version--great idea!

Yes I make adult knockoff sit n spins. mostly for parties etc. But you can make one yourself if you'd like. If there is old furniture such as a bar stool,or a spinning recliner, you get get the bearing base off the bottom of the chair. Then mount it with a rod through the center and then cut a peice of round wood out with a circle cut through the venter where you can just simply place it over the shaft. You may want to tape something over the wood, and make sure the wood is nice and smooth otherwise splinters in the bottomside wouldn't be very much fun. It's a pretty simple design you can also use an old electric motor as they have very little resistance(please do not connect a working motor to a battery thats not safe). The weight is something else to deal with however.

I had a red one with hypnotic tri color swirls on the seat. One of the best toys ever. I bought one for my child but its made out of bendy cheap lawn chair type plastic and looks like its gonna break every time they play with it. The one in the picture looks like the old durable one i used to play with. so cool...

My daughter purchsased one in March 2008 for my granddaughters 3rd birthday, playskool brand. Unfortunately it topples her over maybe cause it is oval. I would love to find an old timer one for her. Maybe I have someone make one from Fred's instructions. Thanks.

I would love to have an adult sit and spin. Mine was from the 70's blue with swirls. Loved it. My friends and I tell people "oh go sit and spin" when ever we joke around (and want them to get lost) LOL. This toy is actually what we envision except with a very big dizzy person.

I had a blue care bears sit-n-spin and WISHED I still had it for my son. I just bought him a playskool sitnspin and it doesn't even spin!!! It SUCKS!!!!!! Why won't they remake the ones we used to enjoy?!
sue - July 22,2009 - July 22, 2009 - Report this comment
I agree with all comments that indicate that this new sit-n-spin doesn't compare to the orignal made in 70's. It SUCKS just about covers my feelings. I bought it for my grandaughter and she thinks the music is great to dance to and thats about all. I am returning it to Toys-R-Us.

I remember the blue ones with the swirly graphic stickers on them. I used to beg my mom to get me one. She refused because she knew it would make me throw up.

Adults have alcohol kids had sitn spin. My brother and I would spend hours on this thing. Then ride our big wheels. They dont make these toys any where as rugged as they used too. Someone would make a killing filling this nitche.

I used to have a yellow Sit and Spin when I was a kid. Me and my two sisters shared it until we became to big to use it anymore. It was my favorite toy! If they made a bigger one for adults I would be the first one in line to buy it. :)

i never had one, but always wanted one... we did have an old base to a papasan chair in our house, which was used as an ottoman... i would find the largest room in the house and lie down on it on my stomach, then push with my feet until i got momentum... what is it about spinning!?!? :)

My best friend next door became the oldest of four kids and he was only 5. They had the same one as the pic except their's was dark blue. None of the kids ever played with it, but whenever I went over I ALWAYS tried to sneak a spin or two before being pulled away to something else.

HEY DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND THE ORIGINAL SIT AND SPIN THE ONE AROUND NOW AREN'T THE SAME. I NEED TO GET ONE FOR MY NEPHEW.

Totally agree with several of you. The new version we just bought for our 3 year old SUCKS! It barely spins. She's going to have arms as big as Hulk Hogans after doing this an hour per day. There's not an inch of free movement. She has to earn every inch. Really really miss the durability and quality of the "good ole days". Carpet, hardwood, doesn't matter. Still sucks.
