I saw a newspaper article from when I was in second grade (1984). In the paper I said I wanted a slam shifter. I had to look up this website to find out what it was.

From the Saturday morning cartoon vault, TV commercial for Slam Shifters by Ideal Toys. These were made in wide array of colors. Boys are shown racing them. This aired on "Meatballs & Spaghetti" over CBS (11/7/82). Cartoon show was about a traveling rock group. Meatball was an overweight guitarist. His wife, Spaghetti, was the petite keyboardist. Their friend, Clyde, played bass, and their dog, Woofer, was drummer.
