Description
When "Real Baby" came out, there were two different versions. "real baby" which had its eyes open, and "sleepy real baby" whose eyes were closed. Sleepy real baby also came dressed in Pj's. I so remember the commercial's for these things around xmas. They were advertised to look and feel like real babies, and of course in the commercial they kinda did. I genuinely thought i would be able to fool people (adults) with this thing if i got it. So i opted for sleepy real baby b/c doll eyes always look fake lol These things weighed a lot! proabably about 4-5 lbs. their limbs and head were really thick hard plastic , but with a finish and mold that were a little more life-like than say a cabbage patch kid lol The rest of the body was made of a thick nylon-like flesh toned matterial and filled with god knows what?? b/c that was the part that made them so heavy. Th eye lashes and hair flet more like real hair, but it was soooo gross. (IOW's REALLY bad real hair) the hair was like brushed down and glued from underneath, and impossible to brush, comb, or do anything with. it was just matted, and dry, and course. Also, not really that cute. Almost sorta creepy looking face.

This was my fave doll, I still have it. It went everywhere with me when I was little, the park, store, EVERYWHERE. Today the poor thing is filthy, and her hair is attached by one strain. She is a sleeping one and I named her Sindy. I will keep her forever, even though my poor husband is creeped out by her.

I got a sleep real baby when I was really little, like 2 years old and I still have her. She's in pretty bad condition, but she was one of my first baby dolls.

I got the sleepy real baby in the bunny PJS for Christmas when i was 8. It was so large it did look real. In fact once I was sitting in the back church pew alone with my doll laying next to me while my mom took my toddler brother to the restroom and some old lady in the aisle leaned over and scolded me for not making sure "that baby" didn't roll off the pew! Freaked me out!

I'm 29 and I still have my Sleepy Real Baby in the bunny PJs. She's in great condition. I agree the the hair was horrible. To this day, I still call her 'Sleepy Real Baby' that was and always will be her name. I never had a 'real' name for her.

I had both dolls, & I have to say Real Baby had better hair than Sleepy Real Baby. I wish I still had mine, so my 3 girls could play with them. Sadly my mom sold them in a garage sale when I was in high school :-( Always looking for a place to buy them, but no luck so far.

I'm 29 years old, I received my sleepy real baby when I was two years old on Christmas. I took her everywhere with me, she now has no hair and is filthy but I will never get rid of her. I once took sleepy with me on a plane from NY to Puerto Rico, during the flight I kept her under the seat. When we hit turbulance the doll came out from under the seat and scared the hell out of the lady across from me, she started screaming and the entire flight crew came over because they thought it was a real baby. I will never forget that.

I got my sleet eyes real baby when I was five years old. I am now 34 and I have added her in my will when I die. Her name is Gabriel and she has no hair and I keep up locked away from my now 16,15 and 8 year old. My family know how I feel about her and I cried one time when my friend thought it was okay to joke that he through her away. I use to feed her when I first got her and just knew that she had ate all the baby food I use to feed her.
