Description
A seventies left over, shred ice cubes to make snow cones. Snoopy's dog house contained a shreader, and a big shaft with a sleeping snoopy on top pushed the ice through it. I think they still make these.

I have two of these now. One that I received for Christmas as a small child that I had to share with my brother, and one that I received a few years ago for Christmas. The packaging is very different, and I believe some of the details are different. As an avid Snoopy Collector, I have NEVER opened the package of my newest one.

I had one of these. One of my best friends just called me and told me she found it at a Barnes and Noble in Indianapolis. I loved my snow cone maker.

This was not just a toy, it was a money maker! I sold snoopy snow cones for .10c each. I had a staff and everyone was paid. Pure capitalist heaven.

We used to have this when I was little. I recent found a brand new one when I went on vacation and showed it to my kids. They want to open it but just can't open it, it brings too much memories.

I loved this thing, my mom hated it. I think she hid it on me a couple of times. When my husband and I were first dating, we seen one in the store and bought one, just for good old times. The snow cone was horrible. I guess our tastes change over the years!

I wanted one so bad, but never got it.

These were awful, your hand would be about to fall off from cranking the dang blasted thing so hard on the ice cube...and it was awful, but I sure loved it...I remember the commercial...put an ice cube in and get a snow cone out - yum yum fun is what it's all about!

I loved my snoopy! My mother hated it and hid it in the closet, then kicked my butt for always trying to steal it back! I never got it back either.

I just recently rescued my snoopy snow cone maker from the basement of my parents house before it got tossed or (gasp) handed down to my sisters kids. I'm 28 now and I can relive the summer of '85 over and over :)

I wanted one of these as a child. I pored over the Consumer's Distributing catalogue for hours, hinting about it to my Mom. She flat out said no. My grandfather came to visit and I hit him up too. We were just about to go and buy it when she intervened and I got in trouble... A few days ago (I'm 35 now), we saw it in a store and my husband bought it for me for one of my Christmas presents! I was so happy!!! It's so stupid what sticks with you from childhood!

i don't know if i'm more excited about the snow cone maker or the consumers distributing reference. i had this... and i remember just playing with it and pretending we were making snow cones... it was waaaay too hard for a kid to operate that blade which cut up the ice cube. still fun anyway.

My mom also hated this toy, probably because I never got the snowman syrup squirter thing really clean and it was always a bit sticky. I also had the worst time turning the crank to the shaver while holding down that plunger on top. Was always tipping over and spilling my snow. My mom would never buy Kool-Aid because she didn't want us kids to have too much sugar, so I would take my dad's Pepsi and make Pepsi-cones, so much better for me, of course!

I got this for Christmas one year & was sooo happy...I loved the Snowman syrup squirter, the syrup was so sweet and sugary. It was hard to crank, though. LOVED IT!!
deez - February 20, 2008 - Report this comment

I always wanted one of these as a kid but never had the chance.....until Christmas of 07 (I was 28). My mom surprised me with one and I cried when I opened it. The best and most thoughtful gift ever!

My sister had one of these things and she kept it under the bathroom sink for some reason. The only time I ever attepted to play with it I gasked my little hand open on that cheesegrater metal drum thing.

I remember cranking and cranking and cranking that ONE ice cube! Plus no matter how much you washed the snowman syrup squirter it the top always smelled like rubber! I also remember the little paper cups it came with!
Angie - October 28, 2008 - Report this comment
I had one without the crank where you placed the ice under snoopy and you had to push it back and forth to shave the ice! I can't find another one anywhere.

I had one of these growing up, my mother had one as well. Trying to find one for my 6 year old daughter, but it's like looking for a needle in a hay stack.
aaron - December 04, 2008 - Report this comment
hey nicole, you should check for them at urban outfitters. they make exact replicas of the old snoopy snow cone machines.

I have three of these Snoppy snow cone machines. My parents got me my first one in the 80's, I was 6 or so, and loved making snow cones, even though the hand crank bit was unstable. my parents got me another one as a teenager, kinda as a joke. And I got one, brand new about a year ago at Garden Ridge for $15

Savannah - April 25, 2009 - Report this comment
My parents bought me this one year. It was HORRIBLE! I think my dad and I used it once. I used to BEG to take it out and promise that I would turn the crank, but my dad would just curse under his breath that it was a peice of garbage. haha. You try taking an icecube to a cheese grater and see how much luck you have!

Had one of the originals when I was a kid,,,only used it once,,,it was too much work for not enough reward!!! I have the new version now (still in the box) sitting with my HUGE Snoopy collection,,,I was disapointed to see, however, that the new ones do not come with the snowman,,,the syrup is stored in the Snoopy ice pusher thing.

Jennifer - October 18, 2009 - Report this comment
Yes, this was TOTALLY too much work (but you did it anyway, fortifying yourself with a hit or two of syrup out of the snowman while you were working) I can't be the only one! And what? The new one doesn't come with the snowman? Fie, Snoopy!

all of the people who said "oh i loved this thing as a kid" but then don't want to open a new one and deprive your kids of their own memories need to grow up. stop being so selfish and share with your kids. if they're still making these things, then it couldn't hurt to open one up and let your kids have fun.

this snowcone, maker was amazing! its a rare thing to find/buy, and it worked...its a great invetion for us as adults and the kids of today.....might be corny but hey, we had a manual way to crush ice before ice crusher were in our fridge ....where can find them now?
Nathan - September 04, 2010 - Report this comment
I had this machine. I love the concept, but, just as everyone noted, it was way too much work to get a small amount of shaved ice. And then we purchased a real snow cone maker, and all was right with the world again. Great times trying it out, though.

My daughter wanted one of these really bad as a little girl. She never did get one for some reason. I like to tease her a little about it now that she is in her thirties. Hmmm.. perhaps for this Christmas!

My brother had this. One day while he was at school I destroyed it by grinding crayons in it. To this day I don't know what I was thinking.

I had one of those! My friend and I used to love using it in the summers to make our own sno-cones (and after a while we just used fruit punch juice for them instead of any kind of syrup).

I don't know if it was just mine but it was really hard to crush the ice 🙁
