I remember these and I can read books, this one had a green pickle van!

YESSSS! I was hoping these would be here. I had just about every book and a green bus or van (not sure) that carried the books

OH YEAH!!! I had every single book...till my young sisters ruined EVERYTHING!!! I'll still see one here and there around my moms house, in my sisters rooms of course...but I had hoped to save them for MY kids...remember the jingle...smart moms know how kids minds grow upon sweet pickles

Yessss! I loved those books and I am trying to find a set for my kids.

They don't make books like these anymore. I read them to my kids now and I have a different voice for each character. They love it!

OMG!! I remember these books well, I had every one of them. When I was little my family moved to another neighborhood and all of them were left behind (devastated). I found out they were discontinued, I couldn't believe it. They were great books. I would love to find the full collection for my little one, some where.

I loved these books as a child. My mother gave them away and we wanted them for when my husband and I have children. My mother found a set on EBay and purchased them. She spend a bundle but they are worth it. They are even in the same condition if we had our old books. What a treasure. I love Goose Goofs Off, I'll do it tomorrow!!

I still have this set, infact I have 2 green buses full of activities. It was a collection where as you got a set every month and put them in the green bus for storage. I have a daycare and the kids of today LOVE IT.

Does anyone know where you can purchase the bus, complete with the activities and books?

So glad I found this because I can't find anyone that knew about this. I loved to receive the books in the mail. Made me feel all grown up. They should bring this back for the kids today. They're missing out.

I loved these, too, but I have to correct the description above. Iguana wasn't forgetful, he was insecure with who he was and kept imitating everyone else's style (like that punk Zebra, what was his name?). That's why he was called Me Too Iguana (a name I call my dog sometimes, since she copies what other dogs do, like lifting her leg like the boys!).

I remember the commercial that advertised the subscription to these books. A real green van pulls up to this kid's house and some of the characters (life-sized or wait, people-sized) jump out, ring a doorbell, give this kid her own small green bus, a book, and some balloons. They gave her a hug and tore off down the street in the van. I always looked for that darn van to pull up and personally deliver my book. Of course, costumed people riding around in vans giving presents to children were probably best avoided.

As a youngun the duck goose thing or whatever it was from the commercial scared me so much I would cry whenever the commercial came on and sometimes I'd run out of the room. As a result I wanted nothing to do with sweet pickles.

My brother was the little boy in the commercial. I happened check to see if it was on YouTube and I came across these blogs. Weird wild stuff :)

Captain Kangaroo used to read these on his show!!! Goose Goofs Off was my favorite!

i was just asking my fiance' and his sister did they remember getting sweet pickle books and cards with different animals and discription, they were looking at me like i was crazy. i had to google this to make sure i had lost my mind!lol i really enjoyed the books as a kid,learned alot from it too. makes me smile just to think about it.

I remember the tune in the commercial and the little kid screaming in the mother's face too loudly "Thanks mom!" Calm down kid. They are just books.

I loved all of these books but my favorite was Goose Goofs off. I can still remember the pictures. I wish I still had them to read to my little girl.

When my daughter was a child, she had all the sweet pickles books. Her favorite was Goose Goofs Off. Her brohter who was born 10 years later also had the pleasure of reading these books. I saved all the books and gave them to my daugher for my grand daughters. I made her promise she would save them for her brother when he has childern. I want all my grandchildren to have the pleasure their parents experienced reading these wonderful books.

Oh My Gosh!I remember when I was in kindergarten and I saw their commmercial. I would say that the merchandise was great(except for the books) as I 'm not too sure about them. All in All, very sweet memories.I never really knew what Sweet Pickles was all about!

i loved mine! i actually have 1 partial set packed away. its about the only thing that i have left from my 80's toys.

Fish n Flips was my favorite. Still have the entire collection in mint condition.

I absolutely LOVED these books! My mother bought them from Trollie or whatever that book club was called the one they sent home from school. I used to read them to her over and over again. My favorite was Goof Off Goose. She was so messy!! I love to find these again

I had Sweet Pickles and the Sweet Pickles bus. I wish I still had them. I don't have kids but would love to read them to my best friend's little girl. I learned to read with thease and Seseme Street books.

I can't believe this was here. I use to love the books and that green van, but it has been soooooo long that I had forgot they exsist. I wonder what happened to my books and the green van that I would keep them in?

I BEGGED my mom to order these for me. I thought they would be delivered by a pickle van lik eon the commercial. Nope. They came via UPS. I was peeved about that.

I always hated to read, but my mom ordered these for me, and when they started coming in the mail, I started reading them. The only one I could remember was Very Worried Walrus until I got on here and saw Goose Gooofs Off. I'd love to have this set just for memory sake.

Wow it is nice to know so many of us out there grew up with Sweet Pickles. They should bring it back. It was be a bige seller based on all that I see on the blogs. That is a huge piece of my childhood..and now that I read them to my kids I am so glad that I have mine

this is crazy but im 20 and i actually played with the sweet pickle bus.. i never read the books but i actually had the plastic pickle bus case with all the little board games and stuff in it.. i actually wanted to see if theres anywhere you can buy them, my mom just moved into her new house and she still has the case with all the games but i wanted to see if it was possible to get those still so i can play the games with my daughter. i love sweet pickle bus and i had NO idea it was a 70's/80's kind of game =)

My mom doesn't remember sweet pickles and I'm am so upset; because I was deprived of them as a child.... I am now 30 years old and she didn't even believe they existed, so we looked them up on line and I'm so glad all of you guys remember them too. I really want my sweet pickles.

OMG... I am stoked I found this web page. Nobody believes me that there was such a thing as the Sweet Pickles. I swear that bus came to my house and dropped off the books and activity bus. I guess I wanted it so bad I made myself believe.

I had the whole set. I think I still have them. I started teaching in the early 80's I loved to read them to my first graders.

I loved these books! Never had the bus but want them for my sons and myself. For the whole set that is in good condition is like 250 on ebay though. Someday we will have them.

OH COW!!! I can not believe how hard the Sweet Pickle stuff is to find. i wish they would bring it back like they did strawberry shortcake and all the other things that were so big when i was a kid. so many kids actually like to read this would be a hit now. i really wish that would happen.

I used to read the books and do the little activities with my little bro. He is now 27yo and has a child of his own and I would love to give the sweet pickles bus to my little nephew.

I had the activity box where the cards would come in the mail every month. It was around the time I would get a few I Can Read books in the mail every month. My mother still has it somewhere...I wonder if she knows where...

I remember when my mom ordered the set for me and in the commercials it showed the actual characters coming to the see the children in person. When my sister said my sweet pickles set was there I hid because I was scared of characters then hahaha...

Lol, 28yr old daughter just called and said she had spent a great deal of time trying to remember her very favorite 'growing up' thing. She could only remember green pickle and bus. The minute I laughed and said "Sweet Pickles Bus", I wished I could have taken it back - she would have driven home for a visit to get the name of it!!!! Oh, the memories we shared making crafts and reading the books......

I have been racking my brain trying to remember a recipe from the Sweet Pickles Bus that my mom and I used to make when I was a kid. The name of the recipe was Peanut Butter Balls. PLEASE tell me that somebody from here has or knows this recipe. I remember it had peanut butter, honey, oatmeal and I think it even had dried milk but that's all i can remember.
