I used to actually have one of these. If you lost the ring, you could still activate the features...but it just wasn't as much fun. Loved that toy!

I had one to, and I also think it had a decoder type thing for reading the messages? Can't quite remember. lol It would be great to see a picture of one again.

I have been looking everywhere for this toy. The memory of it came to me in a dream and since then I've been obsessed with finding one. No such luck. I can't even remember the manufacturer.... Of all the toy "weaponry" I had, this was, by far the coolest gun on the block.

The parachute launcher was spring loaded and fired a flimsey plastic parachute. If you put coins in the launcher they'd shoot out with a lot of velocity and force. In a spasm of poor judgement I loaded two quarters and fired them at my lounging father. Each coin whizzed by either side of his head and ricocheted off the cushions of his chair. In a rage, he chased me around until I hid behind my mother. He then jumped on the discarded toy with all his 230 pounds and smashed it to pieces. Memories.

Man, this is the one ting I remember wanting SO BAD that I actually got for Xmas. I think it was the beginning of the loss of innocence for me, since it really was just a piece of cheap plastic crap and once I finally got my hands on it I realized how little I really wanted it after all. *sigh*

I loved this toy. The ring in the box was not the ring on the picture, but the rest of the toy was just as advertised. When we moved, it got lost. I had so many fond memories for my System 7 toy gun.

I have one of these and considering selling, but not sure if I should. Are they valuable now? Got most of the bits with it and also the original box too.

James, I'm sure there are lots of people that would be very interested in purchasing this toy. What would the asking price be?
Willy - May 31, 2010 - Report this comment
I had this toy as a kid and I absolutely loved it! No idea what ever happened to it. I had a field near my house and I used that detachable periscope all the time. I'd hide in the tall grass and use the periscope to look for the neighbor kids!

My brothers and I had one of these each. I'm pretty sure ours didn't have the sight attached to the periscope, but it's a long time ago.

My son just found one in its box under the house. In pretty good nick with one ring, codes, reader, spinning rings, periscope, halk of the red sphere, no parachute. Memories.

My system 7 was the one great toy i remember from my child (oh and a remote controlled truck...Another story). I loved that gun so much I called it HULK (after the big green guy, it was big and I young and little). I used the periscope to check out a girls underware for a friend at a birthday party...I was 8....I loved it and would buy one in a heartbeat of I could. 10/4 Sydney Aus

I got one for my 7th birthday, how cool was that. I am 39 this year and my daughter just turned 7 yesterday. I still remember getting home from school and finding this huge present, I unwrapped it only to find that my dad had replaced the gun with a chunk of 4x2 hardwood. Man I bawled my eyes out and after my family all had a good laugh I actually got the gun. It was so cool. Classic times if only we could be back their now.

Yep I had a system 7 too, It was a large blue gun which had a launching platform for two aircraft. I remember the ring and the periscope for seeing over trenches. Have only seen one pix on the internet. Man, if only I'd known then to keep my old toys!

I had one of these, but it was in the 70s (I'm 45 now), more late 70s than 80s, but that's nitpicking. If I remember correctly, the ring was in the shape of a '7' and you pressed it to a particular spot on the gun to unlock a compartment or some such. Great fun!

I just went to my parents this past weekend to clear out toys they had kept. My parent never got rid of any of my brother or my toys. I mean all. I just had the enjoyment of going over them with my son as I put them up in te house. The first one he spotted was the System 7 Task Force gun. I still have the gun, box and all that goes with it including the instructions. My son was amazed as I was as a kid. Although the locking part to the raising telescope was broken I was shocked to see all other things were worming perfect. Although I don't usually get super emotional, watching him having fun with this classic toy that I loved so much was priceless. It's great to see a young person enjoy the simpler things we did back then!

My brother and I each got one for Christmas one year. As stated in one of the comments long after all the small parts were gone we still enjoyed them when were playing Army with our friends. I even spay painted mine black. It left a cool outline in the street from the over spray.

I had one too in the late 1970's (not the 1980's as this webpage says). I was around 10 then, now I'm in the late 40's. Loved it & spent many a time with it. The connector at the front for launching the propeller-wheel ammo eventually wore out, but that was ok. I liked looking around corners with the periscope. I kept it all this time, but sadly I had to give it away (donate) to Goodwill last year (2013), but I kept the little stuff (launchwheels, decoder stuff, parachute ball, etc). I should've kept the scope, since it was detachable, but I guess I wasn't thinking. In hindsight though, perhaps I should have kept this toy, because in some strange wonderful way, I'm now starting to get into air rifles (which are not toys). Not into real firearms yet though, but air rifles are a fine alternative. And it all comes back to the System 7 I had. :)

I had a System 7 as a kid ... one of the greatest gifts I ever got. I remember my younger sister and I running around outside and she would pretend she was Princess Leia and I was Han Solo and I was testing a new weapon for the Rebellion. Awesome!

I had this in the 70s. I remember I had it at my old house and I moved in 79. So unless my memory is playing tricks on me, this is definitely not an 80s toy. But it is still my favorite.

I remember the commercial for System 7. I had to have it. One Friday my dad came and picked us up from the sitters and took me and my Bro to Kmart. He told us to get what we wanted(toy section and within reason I guess) I chose System 7. Back then you could ride in the bed of a truck. My dad had a camper. So my Bro and I got our toys. My dad drives and pulls up to some business that I didn't know what it was(a bar) he says...I'll be about 5 minutes...stay and don't leave the truck...hours(as a kid hours could be 5 minutes but my dad went in during daylight and now it was dark) My Bro and I were now bored with our toys and hungry and thirsty...So we left the camper to knock on the door my dad went into...Some old guy answered and we asked for our dad...he says...what's your dad's name?...we told him...he calls out to my dad who comes to the door...there is something different about him...he says...5 more minutes...hours later...etc.
